What you’ll be doing...

Position Summary

In this position, you’ll be responsible for building relationships and developing strategies to assist public safety customers in the adoption of new technologies combining them with the interoperability of existing legacy land mobile radio systems. This position reports under the National Business Operations Center.


Develop strategies to assist public safety customers in adoption of push to talk technology including interoperability with current complex legacy land mobile radio systems. Leverage relationships established through the Verizon Response Team engagement to drive adoption of cellular technology for critical communication and create new revenue opportunities for the Market sales teams.

Coordinate wireless needs assessments, including gathering requirements from first responders, technology analysis, and state-by-state design requirements to influence Verizon’s product strategy to meet the mission critical requirements of state agencies.

Develop strategies that leverage the Verizon Response Team (VRT) assets, capabilities, and crisis support to strengthen Verizon’s position with public safety agencies and local communities. Build relationships with public safety agencies that create in roads for sales opportunities as well as strengthen relationships with existing customers to defend our public safety customer base.

Represent Verizon in community engagements with high-level officials to build relationships that remove obstacles for network crisis response, build proactive community engagement to assist in site acquisition efforts, and establish public private partnership opportunities for Smart Communities engagement.

Manage internal relationships with various departments within Verizon; including but not limited to: Network, Marketing, Public Relations, Senior Leadership, Sales Operations, Legal and Compliance. Hold internal teams accountable to meet deliverables that support VRT and deliver beyond customer expectations to strengthen relationships and support communities in times of emergency. Build and iterate strategies that leverage this philanthropic work to drive sales and revenue growth opportunities.

During times of crisis and/or emergency, activate Market volunteer resources and coordinate execution of the Verizon Response Team plans.

  • Arranging for a Wireless Emergency Communications Center (WECC) vehicle, which offers free phone calls, email access and charging capabilities for community members and first responders
  • Coordinating requests for emergency network coverage, which may include deploying Cell on Wheels (COWs), Cell on Light Trucks (COLTs) or in-building solutions
  • Work cross-functionally with the Market field operations teams to effectively and efficiently scale resources to support the VRT program.

    Drive internal technology support roadmap with IT to ensure internal and external customer needs are accounted for in driving strategic partnerships with business customers. Including, but not limited to, building coverage solutions that drive incremental revenue, 5G trial arrangements to accelerate adoption, site acquisition/community engagement to accelerate coverage enhancements.

    Schedule and direct work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve established budget goals and meet aggressive customer timelines, Work with management group to build ROI modeling, manage matrixed execution, and all relevant timelines for successful project completion.

    Develop strategies and align Crisis Management and In Building resources within the Markets to execute on short and long term initiatives to meet business needs.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience

5+ years land mobile radio experience

5+ years network, communications, and/or electrical engineering

3+ years public safety and/or government experience

Prior knowledge and/or experience in supporting Public Safety agencies and/or VCRT Program or like-program

Good understanding of VZW Systems related to Business Sales

Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

Proven project management experience of long term, large scope projects.

Strong financial analysis experience (P&L, ROI, cost analysis, business case development, etc)

Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to analyze and develop processes, methods, and procedures.

Ability to support and facilitate the development of other's knowledge and skills, providing timely feedback and guidance to help reach goals.

Able to present ideas and complex information effectively to individuals, or groups, with short time frame for preparation.

Must be able to identify and escalate potential issues as well as implement recommended solutions.

Able to establish measurement and feedback systems.

Able to implement and monitor overall project plans for alliances with other departments, customers, and vendors.

Proficiency in desktop applications, including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.

Willingness to travel at least 50%.
