The Finance Organization

At Verizon, we are building a world-class Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization. We have begun a comprehensive program to transform the finance organization by improving the capital planning processes, enhancing systems, realigning the organization, and adding opportunities for personal skill-building and professional growth. Corporate FP&A Team

Move beyond reacting to change and help drive and manage it. This role will be part of the FP&A Capital Planning, Transformation and Reporting team. As a Manager FP&A you have the opportunity to drive better business partnering and insights, while growing your FP&A leadership and interpersonal skills. You are considered a business partner and your contributions will make a difference. You’ll become involved in, but not limited to, supervising capital plan development and program management. You will help create and drive standards across the entire finance organization and across the business.

  • Communicate with and influence stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • Work with the Business Unit FP&A teams to monitor the development of business cases.
  • Ensure the reasonableness and completeness of business cases.
  • Support development of consistent business case quality and accurate operational metrics reporting.
  • Implement program quality control and performance management reviews for Actuals, Business Plan, Commitment View, and Best View.
  • Interpret and evaluate monthly budget variance and KPIs to inform decision making by executive leadership.
  • Assess the impact of strategic Business Unit financial decisions and present to leadership.
  • Design, develop and implement methods and strategies to continually improve processes.
  • Support business units and prepare for Council (senior executive) review and decision making.
  • Monitor program results and understand impact to overall capital investments.
  • Assess capital requirements, develop capital plan and provide recommendations on capital allocation.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other related fields or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Financial modeling experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Even better if you have:

  • A Master's in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Technical knowledge and expertise within the technology or Telecom industry (e.g. network, IT, media, products).
  • Change management experience.
  • A professional certification (e.g. CPA, CMA).
  • A high degree of analytical capability with the demonstrated ability to structure business case around a high-level strategic vision.
  • Investment optimization, data analytics and/or digital finance experience.
  • Strong strategic skills, with the proven ability to identify and assess key points, implications and recommendations.
  • An advanced understanding of corporate financial planning, reporting & analysis, and costing/profitability methodologies and processes.
  • Demonstrated in depth understanding of common business and cost drivers, financial statement analysis, and deep-dive analysis.
  • Experience developing business cases and determining the Total Cost of Ownership.
  • Knowledge of FASB and SEC requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, tax reporting and accounting practices and International Financial Reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management.
  • Proficiency in Essbase, Smart View, Hyperion Planning, and Hyperion Strategic Finance.
  • Experience leading large and complex team projects with minimal supervision.
  • Process design and implementation experience.
  • Automation experience.
  • The ability to understand and manage social systems and influence / manage stakeholders.
  • External reporting acumen.
  • Experienced with Advanced Communications technology.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) knowledge.
  • Executive presence and presentation experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong analytics and financial /operational performance abilities.
  • A strategic mindset and problem solving skills.
