What you’ll be doing...

Seeking a creative, hyper-collaborative, and strategic social marketing leader with vision and strong management skills. Reporting into the Chief Creative Officer, the Director – Social Creative is responsible for the vision, oversight, and execution of the creative strategy and brand expression of Verizon across all social media outlets.

This person will be responsible for Verizon’s narrative in social media channels, leading the creative development process from ideation through execution and translating brand and media strategies into engaging, breakthrough creative concepts across social media.

As a member of the leadership team, this position oversees a talented staff of internal and external, account, and project managers, graphic designers and copywriters, and works and consults collaboratively with external agencies and crossfunctional colleagues. The ideal candidate is a highly creative, driven, resourceful, visual thought leader with an entrepreneurial spirit that inspires those around them.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Drive creative marketing communications direction based on overarching brand strategy and insights
  • Direct communications work, providing hands-on feedback and supportive leadership for internal and external teams
  • Drive consistency across all visual communication by adhering to brand values and establishing creative standards
  • Challenge teams to find creative digital solutions, rooted in insights
  • Manage resources and communicate project status, timelines, deliverables, goals, and expectations to internal teams on a regular basis
  • Drive the newly established Editorial team to deliver high frequency coverage of Verizon’s feed-worthy activities independent of/complementary to marketing campaigns.
  • Drive the narrative and comms content across all social platforms
  • Ensure cohesion and integration across all social channels
  • Lead agency relationships (working within In-house agency and managing external agencies) to develop worldclass social marketing creative
  • Lead the development of campaign creative across all social channels and work with creative marketing across all disciplines to ensure cohesion
  • Work with agencies on shaping and responding to integrated campaign briefs, ensuring social communications are aligned on brand audience and platform(s) to achieve business objectives
  • Serve as final reviewer and approver of all creative output from agency teams
  • Manage a team charged with creating and enforcing guidelines for content and distribution
  • Establish creative partnerships across all social platforms and drive innovation with each partner
  • Partner with internal production teams to ensure efficiencies in all production across social channels

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in marketing, advertising or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in creative communications either in-house, at a creative agency or within a brand marketing function
  • 10+ years of experience leading teams with multiple direct reports either internally or at external agencies
  • 8+ years of experience managing online and digital marketing campaigns
  • Demonstrated success in direct involvement and oversight of the creation of notable work in social channels, including content that delivered substantial earned media value and ideas that drove large-scale social engagement
  • Record of leading collaboration across multiple teams or divisions with a large organization to source, curate and distribute engaging content
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and creatively demanding environment with the ability to manage many projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively, influencing key stakeholders and managing relationships across the organization
  • Ability to coach, build and grow a team in a collaborative, matrixed, and cross-functional organization
  • Comfortable and skilled at utilizing outside resources in addition to internal staff
  • Fluency in cultural trends and news in priority categories like personal/consumer technology, culture, sports, music, film and video
  • Strong knowledge of how social media fits within a larger marketing ecosystem – specifically the distinct role of social vs. that of TV, print, online advertising, and other media – and a strong grasp of the criteria that define good social vs. good TV, print, OLA, etc.
  • Extensive experience in driving award-winning social concepts
