What you’ll be doing...

The focus of the Network Security Engineer is on the configuration, optimization, and maintenance of the Cisco ISE platform. This position is a part of our integrated managed services network and security operations team. This position provides advanced technical security support to large scale, completely custom Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) environment that includes Cisco ISE design, implementation, and support, network access profiling, software upgrades and patching, resolution of incidents and implementation of changes. You will work closely with the security, network operations and systems administration teams serving as escalation point for complex incident and change management related to Cisco ISE.

Responsibilities include:

  • Review requirements, document, configure, and implement changes in accordance with Verizon and customer standards.
  • Change management in a custom Cisco Identify Services Engine environment.
  • Escalation point for ISE services incidents or complex changes.
  • Engineering and troubleshooting on other security devices in the infrastructure as needed
  • Incident management – Incidents are defined as outages or service degradations that will be addressed and resolved by following pre-defined processes and procedures.
  • Training of peers, briefing customers and other Verizon organizations outside Operations.
  • Planning and overseeing tuning of the environment, technology insertion, code upgrades, audits and response to POA&Ms.
  • Develop standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain overall documentation of live environment.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of relevant work experience
  • Four or more years of experiencewith hands-on network or security device implementation, configuration, or troubleshooting
  • Administrator level experience on UNIX/Linux operating system.
  • Active government issued security clearance at a Public Trust level, or eligibility to obtain and maintain this clearance.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Computer Science / Engineering / Information Security or relevant professional experience.
  • Five or more years of experience as a security engineer where the focus of the position is Cisco Identity Services Engine.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience in DNS administration or Cisco ISE engineering and administration
  • Strong knowledge of implementation, operation and troubleshooting of Cisco ISE.
  • Strong knowledge of information security technologies and networking.
  • Strong knowledge of information security technologies.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with customers to understand their requirements.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to identify and communicate gaps in processes.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work and participate within a team environment.
  • ITIL Foundation training or certification.
  • At least one of the following certifications: CCNA Security or CCNP Security.
