What you’ll be doing...

The future is bright at Verizon. We’re expanding and growing into a leading technology company, going well beyond phone plans and launching exciting new apps, platforms, and products for consumers and businesses.

This includes investing heavily in our brand. We’ve already built an in-house creative agency. Next we’re going to establish brand strategy as a core competency, so we can turn innovations into smart brand platforms that drive sales and help our brand get the credit it deserves.

In the next few months, we’re launching a new brand strategy team focused on helping Verizon accelerate its push to become a world-class technology brand.

You’ll be part of a new tight-knit team that will work across the company and lead the conversation about how we organize, position, package and present our capabilities and our offerings.


Partnering with Director, Brand Strategy & Development to accelerate Verizon’s shift to a technology brand—focusing on the following core areas:

Establishing Brand Strategy as a Core Competency

  • Develop ground-up processes and tools for the Brand Strategy team; socialize across company and establish strategy as value-added partner
  • Spearhead analyses and compelling brand strategies for some of the company's most visible products and businesses. Prioritize these major strategies in support of business unit strategies, gain executive buy-in across the company, and manage the implementation of these strategies.
  • Provide analysis and synthesis on complex branding problems that require both analytical thinking and creative thinking

Growing Brand Value

  • Understand and apply a wide range of data-driven, quantitative and qualitative marketing and branding methodologies, such as drivers of choice, brand valuation, elements of value, NPS and others.
  • Synthesize and convert this data into compelling creative insights and brand positioning ideas for Verizon's businesses and products
  • Help to organize and streamline the portfolio of products, services and brands for Verizon and its portfolio of brands

Creating a Brand-centric Mindset

  • Support the development of Brand training content and compliance with brand standards.

Area of focus

Manager would have a core focus in one of three areas, but likely need to flex outside of these areas: 1) Consumer Wireless 2) Consumer Wireline 3) B2B


No direct management responsibilities. Indirectly shape the development or peers as strategists and contributors to the Brand Development team.


This position will be based in Basking Ridge, NJ but will require up to 2 days/week in NYC.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years of experience at a branding agency, advertising agency, consulting firm or corporate branding.

Even better if you have:

  • Experience with Brand Positioning: positioning technology businesses and products in B2C and B2B environments.
  • Experience with Brand Architecture/Portfolio: organizing and packaging portfolios of technology products; integrating/spinning off acquired businesses as part of M&A work.
  • Experience with Brand Measurement: quantitative and qualitative research methodologies around drivers of brand preference and/or other brand measurement approaches.
  • Ability to stakeholder in a large, matrixed organization, leverage the strength of cross-functional teams to develop and deliver thoughtful brand analyses and persuasive arguments to senior leadership.
  • Excited by the opportunity to start a new group and evangelize our capabilities across the company.
  • Drive to do the work, excellent project management skills to ensure focus on priority assignments, and ‘get it done’ attitude.
  • Experience building strong technology brands.
