What you’ll be doing...

This is a data analysis position tasked with solving complex problems through innovative and in depth analysis. The Sr. Analyst is tasked with providing insight into data usage and alerting through Business Intelligence, Data analysis, exploratory and confirmatory methodologies. This position is responsible for designing, owning, implementing and articulating opportunities to apply data analysis to ensure billing and customer experience.


  • Knowing the input and output of relevant source systems supporting data usage, network, and billing with the ability to quickly extract, integrate, validate and automate using internal systems such as SQL and Loader Shell.
  • Maintaining expert level knowledge of Verizon network and systems and communicating / collaborating with team.
  • Data mining responsibilities include creating algorithms to use patterns in the data to build and clarify models to derive consumer and business financial impacts.
  • Data analysis duties involve turning large volumes of data into actionable insight for the business by:
    • Choosing relevant and meaningful business questions.
    • Collecting the best data that is relevant for the decision from multiple large volume data repositories.
    • Reviewing and understanding the data in context to the business and how it changes.
    • Cleaning and transforming the data to prepare for data analysis models.
    • Analyzing the data and creating data visualizations to answer the business question.
    • Customizing the analysis to focus on very specific situations.
    • Communicating results in an audience appropriate manner using applicable metrics, visuals, actionable insights, recommendations and decisions.
  • Participate in the development of consumer behavioral models using advanced statistical tools and methodologies.
  • Create framework, using data inferences and automation, to develop reproducible data driven recommendations optimizing stated business objectives.
  • Assist in the creation and continued support of internal analytics databases to ensure actionable outcomes for analyses and reporting.
  • Data analysis responsibilities encompass quantitative and qualitative modeling including the design, development, implementation and validation of causal static and curvilinear time-series predictive linear, logistic and negative binomial models to form data driven conclusions.

Community Work:

  • Participate in the cross-functional Advanced Analytics COE, Big Data and One Data Source efforts.
  • In a subject matter expert capacity, engage with cross-functional peers towards collaboration.

Learning and Development:

  • Participate in knowledge/best practice sharing opportunities.
  • Continually broaden and strengthen knowledge of analytical methods, tools and databases.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Financial Economics/Econometrics, Computer Science, Operations Research or related discipline.
  • Experience using statistical software like SAS or SPSS.
  • Experience with data extraction, mining, and analysis using Teradata and/or Oracle databases.
  • Experience in business intelligence tools.
  • Experience in data modeling, trending, and data driven decision making.
  • Teradata or Oracle database experience with experience in writing advanced SQL, PL/SQL packages, functions and procedures and tuning database/query performance.
  • Experience working with Big Data and programing in R, Python, Java, Ruby, Mathlab or Pig.
  • Experience in managing relational database systems and optimizing SQL queries.
  • Experience in ETL tools.
  • Experience with data driven decision making.
  • Capability ofinvestigative mind-set with an attention to detail.
  • Ability towards data mining and data analysis.
  • Ability to study data models to identify trends data analysis.
  • Ability to be proficient at querying and managing large datasets.
