What you’ll be doing...

You’ll be managing all engineering, maintenance, and enhancements to the Outside Plant Telephony Network, including structures, cables, and associated equipment. This critical role will coordinate with a variety of teams and have direct contact with business and residential customers. You’ll work in diverse environments, both indoors and outdoors, to solve complex problems and implement innovative solutions to keep our customers happy.This role will focus around Outside Plant design, construction, GIS knowledge, splicing and testing, and municipality permitting experience.

You'll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical/science/mathematics or in a related field.
  • Outside plant engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of permitting and ROWs in the Charlotte NC area.
  • Splicing and testing experience (either physically doing splicing and testing or experience designing and understanding a splice diagram).
  • GIS system knowledge (does not have to be a specific system).
  • Ability to review CAD drafts.
  • Understanding of the CDOT/NCDOT ROW processes andCDOT FTTP build.
  • Ability to work independently or in the field with limited supervision while in the field.
  • Designing additions, upgrades, repairs and enhancements.
  • Leading large scale complex projects.
  • Managing vendor relationships.
  • Selecting and pricing solutions based on the most effective, efficient, and timely design.
  • Coordinating with internal departments and liaising with residential and business end-users, building contractors, and property owners to implement solutions appropriately.
  • CCNP.
  • Experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, AutoCAD and G-Suite Applications.
  • Experience with working application of engineering systems and databases such as VENUE, CoFEE, SiteTraker, Tableau, VCCP, Cheetah, OASIS, FUZE, NAR.
  • Knowledge of NG-PON2 Engineering with previous PON engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of SONET and ROADM Technologies.
  • Understanding of the CDOT/NCDOT ROW processes.
  • Understanding of the CDOT FTTP build.
  • Ability to work independently or in the field with limited supervision while in the field.
