What you’ll be doing...

In the pre-sales organisation we have an opportunity for Apprentice Solution Architects to work in support for our enterprise clients, helping them to embrace innovation and drive change, not just react to it. Working closely with core sales and other pre-sales functions, the Apprentice Solution Architect is aligned to specific sales teams within the branch or designated to supporting a larger group of targeted customers in EMEA. The Apprentice Solution Architect will participate in the degree apprenticeship programme. Here you combine technical and academic study with on-the-job experience. Your learning journey will encompass real life workplace activity (on the job), classroom learning, online learning and workplace assignments.

You are expected to quickly get up to speed on basic foundational knowledge of Wide Area Networking technologies. The Apprentice Solutions Architect will have an aptitude to learn the business value and technical details of Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization. Additionally, the candidate must also have the ability to work as a generalist, learning and supporting related technical domains (like Security and Unified Communications & Collaboration but also basic hands-on developer skills and tooling used in the industry).

Communications Technology (ICT) professional who consults, designs, documents and presents to both

IT & non-IT business execs.

The Apprentice Solution Architect will continuously acquire and grow knowledge in Verizon’s technology offerings by completing trainings, attending corporate partner and vendor presentations, the degree

programme, acquiring certifications, and assisting with specialized project requests.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Adhere and follow all aspects of the Apprentice Degree Programme
  • Provide pre-sales customer support, guidance and insight for activities focused on standard product based solutions
  • Adhere to a standard model for engagement, consultancy, solution development and execution to help enable a platform for best practice to evolve
  • Work as part of a wider pre-sales team, supporting peers and taking ownership as needed.
  • Responsible for adherence to Verizon solution design governance in terms of both Deal
  • Lifecycle Management and consistent use of standard design tools
  • Working within a standard framework to ensure we have a solid hand-off ‘pre to post-sales’ with our Service and Program Management functions
  • Contributor to the creation of customer specific value proposition, linking clients’ business objectives & requirements to our proposed end to end solution
  • Build and develop relationships with client stakeholders and participate in on-going governance programs to ensure best practice/effective communication
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people can understand
  • Take personal pride and invest in your personal brand development, leveraging internal educational and training tools for knowledge / technology certifications as well as seeking external sources for inspiration.
  • Maintain technology/industry best practice certifications as appropriate (Cisco, Microsoft, ITIL, TOGAF etc.).

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Demonstrate aptitude and desire to work in complex environments, across diverse Verizon teams and with a variety of global enterprises.
  • Strong communicator, including providing clear presentations, story-telling and being able to listen for what the customer is trying to achieve.
  • Familiar with modern office tools such as Google- and Microsoft suites.
  • A-levels

Even Better if your have:

  • Experience, including college co-op and part time work in related fields.
  • Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to various audiences is especially important. We look for communications skills first and then assess your technical and business expertise.
