What you’ll be doing...

In this position, the Trademark Docketing Clerk will handle all aspects of daily docketing related to Verizon’s U.S. and foreign trademark assets and perform a wide variety of critical support and administrative tasks while working in a team environment with intellectual property professionals. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Docketing all relevant incoming information and dates for trademark matters.
  • Monitoring departmental email boxes for incoming communications.
  • Analyzing and processing large quantities of information in a timely manner, including all incoming communication related to U.S. and foreign trademark matters and any other related correspondence.
  • Entering required information into the trademark docketing system.
  • Updating and maintaining the trademark docketing system.
  • Maintaining trademark records and attorney work product involving the use of databases, imaging systems and other computer-based technology.
  • Validating data entered by law firms into the docketing system.
  • Auditing the docket and confirming law firm compliance with docketing procedures.
  • Generating regular reports of due dates, verifying and clearing daily action deadlines, and sending reminders to trademark attorneys and paralegals about upcoming deadlines ensuring no final deadlines are missed.
  • Resolving docketing inaccuracies and answering questions related to the docket.
  • Preparing docket reports and running customized docket queries.
  • Managing USPTO deposit account.
  • Making and storing electronic copies of official documents and important correspondence, and filing of original hard copies of the same.
  • Working with internal clients to gather evidence of use for submission to Trademark Offices
  • Assisting with trademark related tasks such as clearance, prosecution, maintenance and enforcement of trademarks.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • Experience in trademark docketing using a computerized docketing system.
  • Knowledge of the USPTO, TTAB, EUTM, and WIPO systems, including U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution, maintenance and enforcement processes and procedures.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Accurate data entry, proofreading and reading comprehension skills, as well as the ability to work in a dynamic environment and adjust quickly to changing priorities while maintaining a high level of productivity.
  • Ability to work independently as well as closely and collaboratively with a team that is located in various offices.
  • Detail oriented and a self-starter capabilities with the ability to provide proactive and effective legal support with a dedication to accuracy and thoroughness in work product.
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, often unpredictable environment with competing priorities, in a cost-effective manner.
  • Excellent research, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong and committed work ethic.
  • Willingness to travel when needed for an occasional training or conference.
