What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is seeking a strong overnight supervisor to join their team at the Cary Network Management Center in Cary, NC. As a Unified Transport/Intelligent Edge Network & Global IP Supervisor you will be responsible for the front-line management of the next generation of engineering teams performing surveillance and repair of the various Verizon backbone and infrastructure networks in addition to the new IEN. You will provide tactical strategy and direction for all outage and impacting network events. Additionally, you will operate as an escalation facilitator, drive projects, create opportunities for enhancement, and managing the group through priority events.   • Strategic development / tactical implementation of global response plans to network-impacting events.
  • Mentoring a team to the betterment of the individual and the organization.
  • Supervising cross-functional groups of engineers supporting multiple networks and technologies.
  • Updating and maintaining scheduling.
  • Processing root cause analysis of outages and major network events.
  • Tactical Outage and Situational Management.
  • Handling special requests.
  • Analyzing and Driving critical transformation business initiatives.
  • Willingness to perform rotational on-call duties as well as work a flexible schedule, including nights/rotational weekends/holidays.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge of Network Equipment and Systems.
  • Operations experience.
  • Management experience with multifunctional teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present information to executive management.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the business.
  • Strong leadership skills and business acumen within a large organization
  • Five or more years of multidisciplinary leadership experience, preferably in the Telecommunication Industry, managing organizational budgets and projects.
  • Technical knowledge of IP layer 1/2/3 protocols.
  • Experience managing a complex process and driving results.
