What you’ll be doing...

This position is part of the Advanced Technical Support team in the Government Enterprise Network Operations Center.It involves providing network services support to Public Sector Customers.The primary role for this position is to offer break/fix support at a Tier II level, project support and performing change management.Daily operations include addressing network change requests; supporting network incidents (ex. Network outages/complex routing issues/QoS/service degradation and latency) and ensuring the health of Verizon’s customers’ managed service networks.The position will interface with customer and internal Verizon organizations.The GENOC operates in an ISO certified environment. The engineer supporting the NOC will be measured on their ability to perform according to processes and procedures, responding to service requests, performing problem analysis and executing change management.

You enjoy digging into the details to find solutions. Communicating with people comes naturally to you. Not only are you are a great listener, but you know how to ask the right questions to get to the root cause of an issue.

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Three or more years' experience in a network operations environment.
  • Experience with IP networks in a NOC environment.
  • Understanding of networking protocols (IP, MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF).
  • Ability to obtain a government issued security clearance.
  • Ability to fulfill on-call rotation as needed.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Understanding of Firewalls, ACLs, DNS, NTP, Network Management and tools.
  • Knowledge of Juniper or Cisco routers, switches.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Knowledge of IPv4 (solid), IPv6.
  • An active professional level certification: i.e. Juniper JNCIP, Cisco CCNP.
  • Knowledge of ITIL and/or ISO 20000 operating environment.
