What you’ll be doing...

Our Global Supply Chain team is hiring a self-starter to join a high profile, high visibility team that powers Network Category Intelligence for Verizon. You will be part of a team operates Verizon’s Teardown Lab. This includes breaking down products to generate design to value opportunities for Verizon 2.0 and our partners. We shape multi-billion-dollar supply chain strategies for Verizon’s award winning 4G LTE network, and next-generation investments into 5G.

  • Partnering with Network Category Intelligence Leads, Network Planning, and the Teardown Lab to understand key objectives.
  • Operating autonomously through the standard Teardown Lab model from physical teardown through value capture.
  • Performing tasks to execute on high priority teardowns and generate meaningful insights.
  • Preparing both standard and innovative teardown outputs that meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Resolving operational roadblocks through root cause analysis.
  • Researching new products reaching lab operations to understand physical and functional value add.
  • Strategizing with internal and external partners to elevate from design-to-cost to design-to-value
  • Architecting and implementing new ideas and process improvements.
  • Prioritizing SKUs within categories and sub-categories based on complexity, baseline of spend, and time to tear-down.
  • Identifying the bill of materials (BOM) for a given product.
  • Using teardown tools to break a product into component parts.
  • Measuring and categorizing different base component parts.
  • Creating a cost model structure for products and researching the relevant drivers of cost.
  • Supporting sourcing leads to leverage teardown results in supplier negotiations.
  • Identifying opportunities for suppliers to change their product design to reduce the cost of manufacturing.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years involving manufacturing experience.
  • Two or more years of experience using Microsoft Office software, such as Excel.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science or related discipline.
  • Experience with product teardowns.
  • Experience in data modeling, programming, data mining, large scale data acquisition, transformation and cleaning of structured and/or unsecured data.
  • Flexibility to adapt to new challenges to overcome short-term hurdles.
  • Self-starter; working in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Capacity for quickly learning and using widely available tools and methodologies
  • Technical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Investigative mind-set with an attention to detail
