What you’ll be doing...

The Business Development Manager is primarily responsible for business development and strategy development for Verizon Smart Communities in the area of SUSTAINABILITY & ENERGY. The Manager will have ownership of business success for the SUSTAINABILITY & ENERGY vertical and will be responsible to drive business with various stake holders in the Pacific Region. The manager will create customer propositions and develop strategic partnerships to aid in their go-to-market activities. The manager will act as the primary voice of the customer and will be communicating requirements, feedback, etc. to the product management teams and will be the subject matter expert to assist field sales teams in designing and executing account and opportunity capture strategies.

  • Own the overall go-to-market success for the SUSTAINABILITY & ENERGY vertical in the Pacific Region.
  • Drive new revenue generating business with internal & external partners.
  • Represent Sales and voice of the customer to Product Management, Product Marketing, Operations and other internal stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain, and share a keen understanding of buyers, their needs, their influencers, and broader market dynamics in the SUSTAINABILITY & ENERGY vertical.
  • Identify, develop and influence strategic relationships with ESCO’s, Utilities, Energy Consultants and Implementation Contractors that can help VSC close sales in SUSTAINABILITY & ENERGY.
  • Driving the sales process by identifying and targeting prospects, initiating new sales activity, and managing cycles to closure.
  • Establish Deal Lifecycle Management & Governance across different opportunities within the region.
  • Assessing client needs, using a consultative approach and an understanding of the challenges faced by their business or industry to link our product to their business success
  • Developing an exceptional understanding of, and staying current on, the product and functionality and its application to specific clients
  • Staying current on competitive offerings to identify the strengths and vulnerabilities of the offering in comparison.
  • Support the development and implementation of new sales opportunities in collaboration with field sales teams.
  • Enable sales teams through knowledge transfer and training, while also providing hands-on support in planning and execution of key deals.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience selling complex solutions targeted toward the Sustainability and Energy sector including cities and utilities.
  • Experience within the Sustainability and Energy industry.
  • Experience selling cloud, security, professional services, IoT, Saas, hardware.
  • Willingness to travel.

  • MBA.
  • Hunter mentality to prospect and research.
  • Ability to work across a large, matrixed organization with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Professional presentation and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to create excellent working relationships with diverse teams and job functions throughout the organization.
  • Experience developing and managing strategic partnerships or channel sales.
