Your role will support development of the long-term growth strategy for the Consumer market for Verizon (across mobile and home markets) and creation of the strategic plan for the Consumer organization. You will provide thought leadership to Verizon's most senior leaders in the Consumer business unit on the most relevant topics in the consumer space, with objective, clear, impactful analysis.

Strategy definition

  • Identify emerging trends, risks and opportunities in the Consumer space.
  • Develop structured, long-term perspectives for key consumer topics, with a strong outside-in orientation.
  • Drive action from insights, progressing slide-ware towards execution.
  • Identify new business models and cultivate strategic partnerships.
  • Quickly build high-level business models and business cases for new opportunities.

Strategic planning

  • Translate strategy into key initiatives that upon execution deliver the strategy.
  • Identify leading indicators that deliver business outcomes and critical conditions for success.
  • Define and support strategy plan process and drive its implication to other operational activities (e.g., capital allocation, budget).
  • Organize strategy off sites with the extended Consumer leadership team.

Executive support and stakeholder management

  • Support senior leadership in crafting analysis, actions and messaging for key strategic topics.
  • Work closely with product teams to imbue business cases with objective strategic rationale and financial analysis.
  • Foster and facilitate alignment across the Consumer business unit - Marketing, Distribution, Care, Digital, Product, Finance.
  • Support preparation of presentations for major Corporate Governance (e.g., VSLC, Board meetings, Investor relations).

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Management / strategy consulting experience.
  • Investment banking / private equity / venture capital experience.
  • Competitive insights / market research experience.
  • Product strategy experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Corporate strategy experience.
  • Strategic planning experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Excellent academic background. Master's or MBA.
  • Experience in the telecom and/or consumer sector(s).
  • Great sense of intellectual curiosity about the mobile space and how mobile can impact society.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills. Experience supporting executive-level communications in a rapid-paced environment.
  • Financial modeling experience.
  • Strong project management skills across multiple priorities.
  • Experience working in a large, dynamic, complex organization, where developing strong interpersonal relationships and leading through influence are keys to success.
  • Self-starter capabilities. Thrives on finding innovative ways to answer complex problems.
  • High-energy, strategic thinking skills, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and a changing environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong sense of accountability in delivering rigorous, impactful analysis.
  • A naturally collaborative approach.
  • Agility with PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Willingness to travel.
