What you’ll be doing...

Primary responsibility will be to ensure that the financial accounts of Verizon's European entities are maintained accurately, meeting both IFRS and US statutory reporting requirements. The role will involve managing the SAP-based accounting processes, whilst providing financial and compliance support to the local business functions.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Managing the full process of preparing and filing local IFRS statutory accounts for local statutory entities within specified deadlines.
  • Building a good working relationship with external auditors, managing their requests and co-ordinating responses to queries and audit action poi nts.
  • Preparing, reviewing and submitting all VAT, Intrastat, and other statutory and statistical returns.
  • Preparing and submitting local corporate tax returns.
  • Undertaking full monthly reviews of the balance sheet and profit and loss accounts of each local entity, ensuring balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled and supported in Blackline, with material movements explained.
  • Providing guarantee for the integrity of local ledgers, ensuring the numbers are materially correct, and appropriate accounting treatment has been applied.
  • Ensuring all month end postings are made accurately, promptly, and to schedule.
  • Building a good working relationship with other areas of Finance and supporting adherence to local statutory requirements.
  • Building a good working relationship with teams outside of Finance to support their local needs.
  • Being involved in discussions on global financial accounting and tax issues.
  • Managing Finance document retention in compliance with both local laws and Verizon policies.
  • Provide ad-hoc Accounting project support, as required.
  • Sharing ideas and providing support to the Accounting team as required.
  • Supporting change management within the wider EMEA Finance Team.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
  • Technical accounting experience.
  • Experience in advanced accounting concepts, including core financial statement preparation of Balance Sheets, Profit & Loss Accounts and Cash Flow.
  • Experience in IT skills utilizing Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with global accounting software ERP packages, preferably SAP.
  • Knowledge and technical acumen for the accounting validation of business results.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in performing a similar role within a large company
  • Experience of working within a multi-national company.
  • Professional Accounting qualification/certification- ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA etc.
  • Experience of working with teams and stakeholders outside of Finance.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with good analytical skills.
