What you’ll be doing...

As a part of the Information Technology team, you’ll design and develop improvements to our customer care applications, like our Wireless Customer Communications platform. You’ll also work across the business to vet and deliver small to medium sized technology projects. The improvements that you recommend and implement will have a major impact on customer satisfaction, which will help improve our business and grow our customer base.

  • Collaborating with IT and business teams on projects.
  • Troubleshooting issues within customer care applications.
  • Supporting code and configuration updates.
  • Evaluating proposals to make sure they’re technically sound.
  • Supporting the implementation of upgrades and new applications.

Project Summary


eCommerce platform is a suite of various applications ofvzw.com. It offers a complete infrastructure for the online shopping experience for both new and existing vzw customers. It is one of the critical sales and support channel for Verizon Wireless and is considered a mission critical system. Promotions are given to customers and conversion rates are tracked against strong KPI's


The Team is searching for a candidate to be part of a development team of currently 20 and contribute to development tasks. The team would primarily be working on middleware architecture more specifically akka/play. Detailed description on required skills provided below. ECOM being a high volume application, performance in this case is of paramount importance. Candidate will work closely with the DEV team at onshore.

Provides technical and/or analytical support to one or more departments or work units with limited supervision; aids in the successful completion of projects within a product or functional area; typically reports to Supervisor (Band 7) or on occasion Manager (Band 6).
Performs a variety of activities (may be technical in nature) in support of the functional processes, programs and/or services.
Work may include compiling and analyzing data, creating reports, providing information and/or recommendations regarding function specific policies; tracking of processes & activities.
Receives supervision and occasional guidance on achieving short term goals and operating objectives; may work independently with limited supervision; may assist on team projects.
Generally works under existing standards and procedures; may require some interpretation.
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action; works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations requires a review of identifiable factors.

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.

  • A degree.
  • Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle phases, including system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
  • Basic understanding of computing software, hardware and networking infrastructure.

Required Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline with experience in software design and development.
Minimum of 1 - 2 years experience in Akka/Play and/or spring boot with an over all experience of 2 - 3 years of experience inJava/J2EE and strong restful knowledge
Experience in developing and designing high performance, reactive, cloud native, service oriented web applications with Play, Akaa,java
Experience withJava1.8 streams, lambdas & concurrency is preferred
Experience with source code control systems such as Git and related practices
Familiarity with Agile methods and Continuous Integration including but not limited to Program and Release Backlog Management (Jira), Defect Tracking (Jira), Collaboration (Confluence, Jive, others)
Test Automation (JUnit, NUnit, TestNG), Continuous Integration/Deployment (Jenkins, Hudson), Code Review (Sonar, Findbugs)
Experience in cloud computing and cloud hosted applications such as Amazon AWS, EC2 and S3

Additional Skills (Nice TO Have)
Experience in clustered cache is a plus such as Redis, Memcache, Coherence
Experience in Endeca is a plus or any other search systems is a plus
Experience in No SQL databases is a plus (e.g. Casandra, Mongo)
Telecom Industry Experience is a plus.
Ecom industry experience is a plus
