What you’ll be doing...

As an IT Project Manager, you serve as a Release Train Engineer who will be responsible to drive large, strategic programs from planning through execution and will facilitate / apply retrospectives in the spirit of continuous improvement. This role requires a strong relationship with the business partners to ensure programs are prioritized and ready for IT engagement.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Host weekly meetings with Business Owner (Value Stream Engineer) to align on business priorities, program risks and work in the pipeline
  • Identifying and engaging IT project teams in partnership with development teams
  • Stakeholder with Product Owners, Enterprise Architecture and Value Team Facilitators to ensure artifact readiness before project kickoff. This includes hosting daily project readiness calls to validate approved business case, HLA, storymap and user stories are in place.
  • Demonstrate Agile, technical practices and competencies in group and project settings
  • Facilitate Program Increment Planning sessions with IT and business stakeholders to:
    • Review project vision, scope, HLA, storymap and user stories.
    • perform Iteration planning resulting in a quarterly view of work
  • Provide thought leadership on executing the program increment plan, critical issue solution, backlog management, plan adjustments and vendor management as applicable.
  • Lead critical issue resolution, escalation and tracking of progress when IT team has priority conflicts and drive ownership & mitigation of risks raised by business & IT partners
  • Provide communication for the program. This includes gathering overall materials and facilitating a planning readout on bi-weekly executive alignments calls with the business, weekly product launch report, weekly highlights, weekly executive IT status highlighting accomplishments, risks and support needed

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in Release Train Engineering
  • Experience in understanding and application of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Lean, Kanban) and scaled Agile framework

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • SAFe Agilist and RTE Certifications
  • Expert facilitator to guide and coach a large and diverse globally distributed team to remain focused on Value delivery and execute in advanced agile practices
  • Knowledge of Verizon products and IT Systems process flow.
  • Strong facilitation and negotiation skills to help team be outcome focused
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills; able to communicate across all levels of management
  • Experience developing content for leadership and communicating program risks and dependencies
  • Experience implementing continuous delivery
  • Self-Starter and able to drive Conflict resolution across teams
