We have an immediate need for a Device Firmware Program Manager to join our Product Development team. This role will help facilitate the development and deployment of new product offerings in our expanding global marketplace. This position would be located in our Atlanta, GA office.
In this role, you will work with the Product team as well as the Hardware/Firmware Development team charged with developing and enhancing a product’s contribution to our business as well as working with support functions to address customer concerns as they become known.
The candidate will be responsible for managing the process for tracking and updating firmware for the deployed base of consumer and commercial devices used in support of Verizon Connect services.
This position requires an individual with a strong sense of ownership, attention to detail, service orientation and ability to identify and surface new process and product improvement opportunities. The desired candidate must be able to thrive in a fast paced, Agile/Lean development environment with evolving priorities and meet critical deadlines.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide end-to-end program management necessary to ensure device firmware deployed for hardware used in support of Verizon Connect services is up to date
  • Work directly with supply chain management, customer success team, firmware development team, QA team, and other key internal stakeholders to manage new firmware pushes for consumer and commercial devices
  • Interface with product and functional area leadership teams to surface and report key product and process improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with research team and front end product development to define and refine research methodology required for effective feedback
  • Work with software development, marketing, security and device engineering teams to assist in definition of app and device requirements, specifications, related use cases and acceptance criteria
  • Work with development teams on expanding device management capabilities
  • Work with QA & Beta Managers to deploy early access firmware

What we’re looking for...

  • 3 to 5 years of technical program/project management experience
  • Can interface effectively with multiple departments, including Software Development, Device Engineering, Supply Chain Management/Distribution, Marketing, Research and Business Lines
  • Programming or other script development experience
  • Superior trouble-shooting skills
  • BA/BS Business, Marketing or Computer Science/Engineering Degree
  • Tech savvy and passionate about building products
  • Proficient in productivity applications such as Microsoft Office, Project and PowerPoint
  • Track record of using qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize and drive decision-making
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties

Even better if you have:

  • Specific knowledge of telematics, consumer electronics, wireless devices and product design/user experience is highly desirable
  • Direct experience with Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) for mobile devices
  • Experience with Verizon’s Mobile Device Management (MDM) FOTA service
  • 3+ years of software product management experience - ideally in an Agile/Lean development environment
  • Software and/or Hardware development and/or testing experience
  • Relevant Professional Certifications
  • Experience with best practice agile scrum development and lean startup principles
  • Comfortable using collaboration and CRM tools such as Slack, JIRA and Salesforce
