What you’ll be doing...

As a Data Privacy Program Manager, you will partner with stakeholders across global cross-functional areas including Privacy, PMO, Legal, Technology, Business and Audit to promote and ensure Verizon’s B2B segment complies with global privacy rules and other data privacy requirements such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

Key Responsibilities are:

  • Manage and collaborate with Privacy, PMO, legal, technology, marketing, sales, product and other business functions to plan, design, and implement effective data privacy compliance programs.
  • Communicate data privacy decisions to the broader cross-functional teams, and ensure integration of the corporate privacy management framework and best practices.
  • Coordinate requirements with key stakeholders, manage project schedules, identify issues/risks, track remediation and report progress to leadership.
  • Assist with steering committee meetings, including presentation decks, roadmaps and status reports for an executive audience.
  • Establish governance, processes, controls and auditing infrastructure to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Assess data privacy compliance against the relevant legislative frameworks to provide assurance that privacy program is applied consistently, comprehensively and meets our regulatory obligations.
  • Leverage standard privacy and/or security reviews (e.g., HIPAA, NIST, ISO 27001, PCI, etc.), third-party risk assessments and other compliance-related initiatives.
  • Define metrics for measuring privacy program effectiveness, and design processes to collect, monitor and report on metrics.
  • Apply and maintain knowledge of applicable privacy laws, regulations, and standards to evaluate current posture against changes in requirements, and identify key risks for mitigation.
  • Help coordinate internal and external audits/assessments of our privacy controls and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and facilitation of internal privacy training and awareness programs.

What we’re looking for...

You'll will need to have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or four or more years of workexperience.
  • 6 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience building a privacy compliance program, conducting privacy and security risk assessments and/or managing internal controls, business processes, testing and remediation
  • Experience preparing reports and other deliverables around strategy, project, or technical analysis, and communicating results to management
  • Working knowledge of relevant data protection, privacy or technology industry standards/regulations (e.g. ISO 27001/27002, NIST 800, COBIT, PCI-DSS, ITIL, HIPAA / HITECH, GLBA, Privacy Shield, GDPR, CCPA, etc.)

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science or relevant field in the data protection and privacy domain
  • 6+ years of data privacy, security, IT audit and/or compliance program management experience.
  • Ability to prioritize, schedule and manage complex projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Self-starter with the ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders, work independently with little supervision, multi-task and deliver quality products on time
  • Superior presentation and influencing skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, excellent follow through, highly developed conflict management skills.
  • Strong strategic and problem-solving skills; goals and results-oriented
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • Global telecommunications industry knowledge (preferred)
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) or other related certifications (preferred)
