The Database Manager will lead the day to day operations of the database support activities, as well as coordinating and closely partnering with cross functional teams like Dev/QA to drive improvements in overall support model. High availability and security for the database will always remain the primary focus along with cloud migration. The candidate should have experience with Oracle/SQL Server DB along with Open Source technologies like Cassandra/Postgres.The candidate should have significant experience in AWS at design level and implementation.

As a Tech manager, the candidate would be primarily responsible to provide functional, technical or process leadership to the team, including production maintenance activities, deployments, regular health checks with focus on stability, using industry standard processes and tools. The candidate should lead the team in troubleshooting production issues, handling Crisis bridges, sending out effective communication to the executives, Maximize High Availability etc.

The candidate should evangelize cloud migration and support best practices across the organization.

Work closely with our Architects, Engineers, Operations, Product Managers and other clients and partners of the DevOps team to meet the needs of the organization to stay competitive - from the infrastructure up to the highest level of applications availability and scalability at optimum performance level.

Manage a team to provide 24 x 7 support and respond to issues with urgency. These duties include opening of investigation and outage bridges, troubleshooting, management of traffic across multiple applications and locations, managing daily checkpoint calls, and tracking of open items on a daily basis. Communicate readout and updates to leadership teams on a consistent basis during production issues and critical launches.


Key Responsibilities
Manage the 24x7x365 support process and providing support to development teams from detailed business analysis through development, implementation and post implementation reviews.
To run in conjunction with other IT teams, the Operational Review meetings with leadership teams, providing insights and recommendations on organization KPI’s, SLA’s and incident analysis.
In the relevant initiatives, understand the strategic direction of the Business and coordinate the IT support activities to support the achievement of the business objectives.
Improving the effectiveness of the database tools and services
Ensuring all the data complies with legal regulations
Making sure the information is protected and backed-up
Building new databases and Monitoring database performance, which includes Cloud Day2 Ops.
Troubleshooting production and test environment issues and handling outages and publishing executive communications.
Qualifications –

1. BS/MSin Computer Science (or Equivalent)

2. Looking for candidate with 10 to 13 years hands on experiencein Oracle/SQL Server DB technology along with Open Source DB like Cassandra/Postgresand possess good communication skills.

Atleast 3 years experience leading smaller teams.

3.Good experience and passion on Cloud infrastructure, DevOps tool set.

4. Expertise in AWS, Public Cloud Platforms. AWS Certified candidates will be given priority.

5. Knowledge of ITIL and should be able apply them to the current project.

Provide new ideas to enable automation of various processes in the teams. Apply unique technical/industry expertise and analyze the latest tools used in the industry.
Work collaboratively with software engineering teams to identify opportunities of process improvements.
Need to work in initiatives which span across multiple functions.
Constantly look out for inefficiencies and eliminate them, thereby improving the productivity. Especially, target the L1 activities and eliminate them by automation
Guide teams to analyze, plan and execute towards moving the applications to Cloud.
Collaborate with external teams within the VzW portfolio, cross functional stakeholders in development, QA, product management and program management office
Evaluate products, run PoCs, and pilots working; develop and recommend tools strategy and gain acceptance from senior stakeholders
Focuses externally to understand trends related to customers, competitor’s products and services, the market, and other groups
Good business acumen, including superior written and verbal communication skill, presentation skills and organizational abilities
Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, corrective actions, and re-validations.
Must be updated on latest automation techniques/tools, Agile/Scrum/DevOps Process testing methodologies and make recommendations on future direction for quality as well as apply latest techniques
Should be at-ease in interacting with people across hierarchical levels and remain perfect liaison between management & Team members and to ensure smooth project/program execution
