What you’ll be doing...

This position provides technical and/or analytical support, in a tier 1 & 2 server engineering support role, for critical systems and applications. Your primary role is to maintain high availability and provide operational services for the server infrastructure and cloud environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide resolutions to a diverse range of intermediate to advanced server and infrastructure problems. Analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Participate on crisis bridges to aid in quick resolution of customer impacting situations.
  • Adhere to a highly disciplined change management process that follows documented procedures and guidelines to schedule, implement, verify, and manage change activities within the allotted change window.
  • Serve as a technical lead assisting in root cause analysis and developing long term preventative measures to avert a reoccurrence.
  • Frequently work independently with some oversight of junior employees.
  • Often responsible for training and developing new team members.
  • Work in a high performing 24x7 team oriented environment.
  • Manage a wide array of complex issues on server platform to ensure the systems, subsystems and applications maintain a healthy state
  • Maintain an advanced understanding of internal processes and procedures
  • Escalate issues to support and management
  • Provide training and development of junior staff members
  • Create incident records to track and escalate issues to maintain high availability
  • Engage the Crisis Management Desk and ensure the correct technical support join the crisis bridge
  • Implement complex change activity records – HA, Server Patching, Kernel Configuration updates, hardware break-fix activities across multiple operating system platforms.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including a compressed work week, shift work (including rotating shifts), days, nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Technical Certification:
    • Microsoft Certified Administrator/Engineer - MCSA/MCSE/MCTIP Certification.
    • CompTIA Linux + or Red Hat Certification.
    • UNIX certification (Solaris, HPUX, AIX).
    • Project Management.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Unix (Solaris/AIX/HPUX) Linux (RHEL/Cent OS) and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with High Availability architectures like VERITAS VCS, MC-Service Guard, IBM HACMP, RHEL, RAC and Windows Clustering.
  • Experience with diverse hardware platforms including legacy SPARC, Sun Blade Chassis IBM Regatta frames, Cisco & HP Blade Chassis.
  • Advanced knowledge of Virtualization/Hypervisor technologies like VMWARE/OVM.
  • Intermediate knowledge of UNIX shell scripting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Storage devices—EMC, HDS, PURE Array, NAS and related management software.
  • Advanced knowledge of the change management process and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve rudimentary system related and/or end user issues and foresight to escalate to support or management.
  • Demonstrated ability to write intermediate to advanced technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate problems and issues of a technical nature to management.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform initial triage and take appropriate recovery actions to mitigate business and customer impact.
  • Leadership and coaching qualities.
  • Experience with Virtualization/Hypervisor technologies like ESX/VMWare, Solaris Zones/Containers, CDOM/LDOM, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and CISCO Unified Computing System (UCS).
  • Demonstrated ability to write basic technical documentation.
  • Capability to articulate problems of a technical nature and issues to executive management.
  • Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong problem determination skills.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, highly motivated and team oriented.
  • Ability to facilitate documentation updates.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
