What you’ll be doing...

The Corporate Systems Group (CSG) Core PMO team is responsible for strategy and implementation of systems solutions that support ERP (Enterprise Resource Platform) and other applications for Finance, Accounting, AP, and Payroll. This position will report to the Senior Manager of Payroll, Time & Labor PMO.For Payroll projects of all sizes (small to transformational), the payroll systems leader identifies issues, requests, and decisions that affect the payroll and time entry aspects of shared applications and drives cooperative solutions for all stakeholders while ensuring that programs and projects are delivered on-time and fulfill all strategic objectives. The lead also drives and coordinates user story identification and user acceptance testing with Payroll SMEs (subject matter experts) across process teams (Processing, Payroll Tax, Audit and Compliance, Data and Reporting, Time Entry, User Experience, and Customer Service) as well as with related stakeholder teams (HR, Legal, Accounting, and various others).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the payroll systems functional expert and handling project management for payroll/time entry systems for new feature development, application upgrades, system implementations, and defect fixes
  • Understanding the interplay between the various process areas within Payroll as well as related systems (HR, labor accounting, etc.)
  • Assisting with large-scale, complex projects within the Finance organization, having significant impact on our Finance and IT landscape
  • Taking comprehensive responsibility and decision-making authority for plan, build, deliver, run, status and budget tracking/responsibility of broad-impact Payroll projects (end2end development and deployment) and programs
  • Leveraging Agile and other methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) to manage project activities through implementation in a continuous release environment, while also managing the project backlog and sprint backlog
  • Leading multiple cross-functional teams to solve for Payroll-impacting projects and issues via process and/or system changes
  • Ascertaining payroll operations and upstream/downstream system impacts from complex requirements of projects across the company
  • Initiating and generating creative solutions, designing the plan and teams necessary to deploy
  • Owning results as measured in project/process delivery from to-be deliverable(s)
  • Monitoring project progress metrics and results relating to stage gates, testing, and user acceptance
  • Designing, defining, and improving processes and tools to support and advance team service delivery
  • Working independently to generate and execute final solutions to complex business problems
  • Creating gap analyses between as-is/to-be systems; defining and presenting alternatives and business cases to support fit gap solutions
  • Developing and presenting status and impact communications to affected stakeholders (from project to executive sponsors)
  • Participating in flexible collaboration, complex solution/consensus development and assuming the role of central point of contact for multiple internal and external teams, such as technical development, Finance, Payroll, Labor, and different levels of stakeholder groups with various demands/requirements and intersections to align/define the long-term strategy, and align/decide on the project prioritization to fulfill the strategic goals
  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state law as well as company policies and procedures or identifying impact on the re-design of existing policies and procedures
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Guiding the project team members on priority items in order to reach goals
  • Assisting with the expansion of test automation, working closely with SMEs and QA teams
  • Participating in quarterly planning sessions, helping to prioritize and plan in order to maximize effectiveness, while taking into consideration resource allocation

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with payroll and/or financial systems (Infor Workbrain, PeopleSoft HCM, Oracle Cloud HCM, or similar), specifically in a support or program/project management capacity.
  • Five or more years of experience leading projects in an Agile environment including user story, business rule, and acceptance criteria definition
  • Experience managing programs, projects, and issues
  • Willingness to travel 25%

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, FP&A, Technology, Project Management or related discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll and financial systems (Infor Workbrain, PeopleSoft HCM, Oracle Cloud HCM, Infor or related)
  • Experience managing programs, projects, and issues with a sense of urgency, commitment to quality, and unwavering customer focus
  • Ability to sustain big picture and delivery focus in a high volume and changing environment with prioritization and time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and organizational skills and the ability to deliver across levels (executive to analyst)
  • Ability to complete concurrent complex projects without considerable direction
  • Scrum Master experience
  • Knowledge of software testing theories and practices with direct experience test planning, writing test scripts, identifying test data and scenarios, and defect resolution before implementation.
  • Advanced skills within a project management discipline: PMP, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Excellent risk analysis, risk avoidance and risk mitigation skills with proactive problem-solving and communication skills
  • Software release management experience
  • PMP certification
