What you’ll be doing...

The position of Senior Business Operations Project Manager is part of the Financial Master Data Strategy & Management business unit within Verizon and is a highly visible position that manages, leads, and is accountable for cross-functional stakeholder project management across multiple groups and multiple sources. The position provides executive communications, technical project management, manages an organizational budget of over ten million dollars, and provides third-party vendor management for the Financial Close & Governance (FCG) group. This candidate performs independent research to proactively identify and analyze opportunities of risk and for improvement and presents those findings to executive team members.

  • Provide leadership, project management, and operational guidance for the CSG’s Financial Close & Governance portfolio. Leads, influences, drives, and manages the FCG team by managing projects, assembling technical project teams, assigning individual team members’ functional and technical responsibilities in order to facilitate effective decision-making and timely completion of projects.
  • Act as primary point of contact/liaison and spokesperson for Audit and SOX compliance reporting and requests. Eliminate manual data gathering process for the audit exercises by leveraging effective communication and information-sharing.
  • Manage and accountable for hardware and software licensing and maintenance financial contracts, working closely with FP&A.
  • The candidate must have a strong background as a CPA, being able to report on, explain, and work as spokesperson for the Assoc. Director for the FCG teams, representing projects and all forms of communications. An expertise level of financial impact of technical systems (including ERP, Budgeting/Planning, Data Management, and Data Governance systems is required.
  • The candidate must be highly adept at verbal and written communication, create complex presentations to augment those communications, and be able to adjust communications between audiences that range from highly technical to executive leadership. There are many large projects occurring at the same time which requires technical system knowledge, an ability to draw upon experience with those systems, and the ability to translate the system data and DRM governance flows in terms that can be provided to a wide range of technical and executive management leadership teams.
  • Manages FC&G portfolio budget totaling over $10 million which includes internal resources as well as third-party vendors.

  • Works with the businesses, management, and key stakeholders, in understanding detailed and complex business requirements, and creates workflows and designs.
  • This candidate must be able to lead and assign technical project teams, assign individual tasks, establish deadlines, and engage and motivate team members in order to complete projects in a timely manner. The ability to have a clear understanding of what functions and goals of the technical team members is required for the candidate to be successful in this position.
  • This candidate performs independent research to proactively identify and analyze opportunities of risk and for improvement and presents those findings to executive team members.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years of experience as an IT project manager with ERP, budging/planning, and MDM systems.
  • Experience with master data and governance technology.
  • Experience with ERP, FP&A Budgeting and Planning and MDM environments.

Even better if you have:

  • Master's degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics or related discipline
  • Certifications: CPA or FP&A certification.
  • Managerial, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing, motivating, coaching and developing a team of technical teams (including third-party consultants).
  • Executive-level communication, organizational, and presentation skills in highly visible positions.
  • Financial and auditing experience and knowledge.
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across multiple departments/pillars.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to prioritize work streams in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Microsoft SQL Server database expertise and understanding.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
