The Cary Network Management Center is seeking motivated and driven engineers to support management of Verizon’s Transport network and technologies.   • Handling phone calls to respond to network alarms and events for proactive network monitoring.
  • Managing Trouble Tickets, Outage communications, and process escalations for internal and external customers.
  • Generating, driving, and updating Trouble Tickets via internal ticketing system.
  • Performing fault isolation, triaging, and repairing network events to ensure the health of our network.
  • Working with external and internal Verizon organizations to coordinate and troubleshoot network events.
  • Providing network technical assistance to external teams by communicating technical details to customer service centers, technical support organizations, and executive management teams during network events and major outages.
  • Enhance automation through scripting and robotics process automation (RPA) to improve team functions and efficiency.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in telecommunications, computer science, or other telecom related discipline.
  • Experience working in a 24x7 Network Operations Center including working in a shift work environment.
  • Two or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, writing and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to provide timely and accurate network information to both management and other organizations during network events and major, critical and catastrophic outages.
  • Ability to work under dynamic fast paced conditions while multitasking.
  • Ability to work well within a teamwork environment but also independently as needed.
  • Scripting with Python, No-JS, Perl, or equivalent languages with examples of projects implemented.
  • Experience driving automation initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel.
