What you’ll be doing...

The Senior System Performance Engineer leads the regional performance team in new equipment/feature trials and vendor evaluations. Conducts new product evaluations and develops qualification studies relative to DAS and WiFi deployments.

  • Investigates and resolves interference or FCC compliance issues between Verizon Wireless and other wireless carriers.
  • Generates new processes and procedures to aid System Performance engineers in Large venue DAS and in-building solution optimization. (CDMA, EVDO, and LTE).
  • Develops long range plans for system performance improvement and KPI standardization for DAS systems.
  • Monitors and analyzes market venue and cluster level performance results and executes corrective action.
  • Collaborates with other Network groups, (e.g., real estate, RF design, system performance, construction, etc.).
  • Manages multiple projects at a time.
  • Utilizes multiple tools to optimize system performance.
  • Commissioning and optimization of DAS components including link budget balance and variable path attenuation analysis.
  • Performance metrics analysis including data connection and throughput statistics.

What we’re looking for...

You have a strong domain experience in performance management tools, call processing, frequency planning, and all aspects of cellular networks. You enjoy the process of solving complex issues while empowering the team around you to do the same.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • RF Engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of network performance parameters and RF statistics.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work in night shifts.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in electrical engineering.
  • Experience in the cellular industry. Ideally, with network experience.
  • Experience with RF propagation tools and radio test equipment, like Ascm, DataPro, Spectrum Analyzers, Actix, Windcatcher, or RF Scanners.
  • Understanding of intermodulation, distortion, interference detection, and mitigation techniques.
  • Understanding of antenna characteristics or antenna system design and selection.
  • Understanding of frequency planning constraints and requirements such as C/I, co and adjacent channel criteria.
  • Understanding of LTE, VoLTE, Evdo, or CDMA.
  • Experience with mobile applications such SMS, Voice/Video over IP and Presence/Location-Based Services.
  • Experience with Performance Tools such as Geoplan propagation, Datapro collection, Windcatcher post processing, and AirMagnet.
  • Experience in design of macro, in-building and large venues supporting 700Mhz, 850Mhz, 1900Mhz & AWS CDMA, EVDO & LTE systems.
  • Traffic Engineering / Capacity Planning experience.
  • NOKIA eNB optimization for LTE networks.
