What you’ll be doing...
The Distinguished Systems Engineer - 5G Standalone Core will be responsible for being a subject matter expert who provides technical leadership with regard to the User Data Repository (UDR) and Subscriber Database Management (SDM) in the Maintenance Engineering organization. They will partner with internal and external organization on end to end system design and integration of other critical 4G and 5G Core Network Applications.
- Develop, plan, evaluate, and integrate application design, new provisioning and activation strategies and their applicability to Verizon Wireless network and end to end service strategy.
- Lead multiple internal and external key stakeholders to develop, strategize, integrate and document standards required for design, provisioning and activation on the Verizon Wireless network.
- Provide analysis (including impact) and assessment of the strategy in order to achieve the desired functionality.
- Manage and collaborate with subject matter experts within the various business units to assess emerging strategic initiatives, identify technology gaps and requirements, and develop solutions to resolve.
- Work with the key stakeholders to lead the testing of the end to end design, provisioning and activation strategies in staging and lab facilities prior to introduction into the production network.
The position will be focused on (not limited to) 4G projects.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant work experience.
- Willingness to travel.
Even better if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other related degree.
- Strong experience in the wireless Industry.
- Experience with 3GPP and 3GPP2 standards and protocols.
- Experience with SIP and TCP/IP.
- Strong experience working with IMS systems.
- Experience with end-to-end call flows of 4G Networks.
- Knowledge of 5G call flows.
- Vendor management experience.
- Experience in managing large cross-functional or enterprise-wide projects.
- Excellent verbal, written, analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to influence organizational direction and departmental initiatives.
- Proven project management, problem solving, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work independently on routine and non-routine research and reporting functions.
