What you’ll be doing...

The Distinguished Architect (DA) reports directly to the Managing Director to fulfill the role of trusted advisor for Verizon Business Group (VBG) on key client deals. The DA will also work with the leadership team to help drive strategic initiatives across the Connected Solutions vertical teams. The DA works with key business stakeholders and subject matter experts to build a holistic view of the client strategy, processes, and information technology assets. The role of the DA is to leverage this knowledge to ensure that clients’ ongoing business requirements and Verizon Solutions are aligned throughout the lifecycle of the contract.

The DA provides support on large, complex customer engagements, aggregating solutions across multiple towers (e.g., M2M, IoT, 4G/5G, MEC, App Enablement, Cloud, Security, Professional Services, UC&C), supporting literature, diagrams, write-ups, and responses. Importantly, the DA must continually develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the industry and Verizon systems, processes, product offerings, and services to enable effective, impactful client communications.

The DA will support the sales teams in strategic account planning developing a pipeline of opportunities for development by Account Management and Solution Architecture while also supporting the Account Team in communicating the strategic vision and value propositions to senior customer stakeholders.

Responsibilities associated with the position include:

  • Owning the solution strategy for Verizon’s largest Global Enterprise customers.
  • Ensuring compliance with Verizon’s solution governance processes.
  • Publication of jointly agreed-upon three-to-five year roadmaps across appropriate technology towers.
  • Supporting the account teams in developing and maintaining strategic account plans.
  • Supporting four or more Executive Briefings each year.
  • Reviewing and approving all Solution Design Documents.
  • Ongoing maintenance of Solution Design Documents and associated product/service catalogs.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A Master’s degree.
  • Industry certifications specific to networking and technology.
  • The ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to varied audiences (i.e., CTO to Manager).
  • Ten or more years of experience in the IT infrastructure industry.
  • The ability to communicate at the C-level across IT and with business leaders.
  • Experience in development of customer-facing business cases.
  • Experience working in a similar role (e.g., Solution Director, Lead Architect).
  • Experience working in solution design and/or product development.
  • The ability to develop business plans at a conceptual level.
  • The ability to navigate both internal and customer business processes (e.g., governance, financial approvals, change-control).
  • Experience in service management and/or supplier management.
  • The ability to understand and develop SLA’s and KPI’s within complex commercial contracts.
  • Seven or more years of experience designing and implementing complex solutions for Fortune 500 companies.
  • Advanced design and sales skills in at least three of the following:
    • Data and IP Services (e.g., MPLS, VoIP, VPN, IP PBX).
    • Managed Network Services (e.g., LAN, WAN, CDN, Managed IP PBX).
    • Managed Security Solutions.
    • Data Center Outsourcing (e.g., application hosting, managed storage).
    • Call Center Technologies (e.g., ACD, IVR, Customer Portal).
    • Wireless Network (WWAN) ( e.g., 4G, 5G, RAN/CORE, Next-Gen Architecture).
    • IoT/M2M and Mobility Solutions.
    • Private LTE/LPWAN.
  • Experience with or knowledge of advanced technologies related to artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and DevOps.
  • The ability to run multiple projects or deals under tight timelines simultaneously.
