What you’ll be doing...

A Smart Community Architect is a broad thinker and a self-motivator. They are someone that has the creativity to develop ideas on their own, and then work collaboratively within Customer constraints to evolve these ideas into reality. They are a technical leader and a consensus builder. The role is simple - to help lead Verizon and its customers into the future. To do this, a Smart Community Architect must be the foremost expert in Smart Community Public Safety solutions and Networking technologies. They must demonstrate this expertise through individual actions as well as an ability to collaborate with Professional Services Consultants, Product Management teams, Solution Partners, and lead Customer-facing technical discussions.

The Smart Community Public Safety Architect is responsible for working with IT executives and community agency leaders as a trusted advisor/ partner to:

  • Review and analyze current technology infrastructure and its ability to support strategic objectives.
  • Identify and propose specific strategies, initiatives, and remedies necessary to align smart community technology and infrastructure with customer objectives.
  • Translate client business issues/opportunities into technical solution/business requirements.
  • Collaborate with Verizon Public Policy teams to ensure Verizon solutions are compliant with Verizon standards.
  • Manage the interaction with specific product teams and specialists to identify and collect detailed customer requirements.
  • Partner with the bid management organization to build out detailed RFP responses and contract development.
  • Lead strategic architectural planning to achieve goals by prioritizing initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future state architectures.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate Verizon and client departments to develop an Architectural Vision and Innovation plan that supports the Client’s strategic goals
  • Develop and communicate technology/service and business process alignment plans to client and Verizon executive teams, staff, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Assess and communicate risks and identify client dependencies.
  • Assist in the development of the client business case and ensure this is aligned to the Transition strategy to both maximize client benefit realization and Verizon revenue.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Ten or more years in the development and implementation of public sector IT solutions.
  • Public/Private sector experience, ideally with Fortune 100 customers and all government agencies (i.e., federal, state, and local).
  • Seven or more years of architecture experience in conceptualization, definition, and development of IT-based products, services, and solutions.
  • Five or more years project management and network integration experience, including accountability for end-to-end delivery.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or business administration.
  • Seven or more years in customer-facing positions (e.g., sales, sales engineering, consulting).
  • Five or more years of executive consulting experience.
  • In-depth experience in technical consulting/advisory/strategy position supporting Public Sector and Fortune 100 companies at multiple interface levels (includes C-Suite level).
  • Experience presenting technology strategies and market direction to public sector and Fortune 100 clients.
  • Financial analysis experience (e.g., ROI, cost analysis, business case development).
  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to high-level audiences (e.g., senior executives, senior public officials, CXOs).
