What you’ll be doing...

This position requires highly motivated individual with solid technical and leadership capabilities to work within the Device Technology organization. The individual will report to a Manager and interface extensively with OEMs and cross-functional groups within the company.

The individual will be responsible to advocate on behalf of Verizon’s interests, deliver the best possible customer experience on the Android platform and maintain Verizon’s market leadership position via flawless execution of new features/experience to support device launches.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Technical project management lead on projects (including feature development) that are critical to device launches.
  • Lead design and development of large-scale, complex technical solutions to bring new features and customer experiences to market against an aggressive schedule.
  • Architect technical solutions and system engineer IT/Network/OEM components.
  • When designing the feature and launching the product, anticipate and minimize impacts to Customer. Care and key areas of the business to minimize additional cost.
  • Define the end-to-end customer experience and write/prioritize/groom technical requirements.
  • Create an overall project schedule and independently manage a large cross-functional team to protect project scope and deliver against interim milestones to ensure time to market.
  • Outline the overall test strategy and define test cases to ensure the enhancements are delivered with quality.
  • Document support materials to prepare Go to Market and Customer Care teams for launch.
  • Investigate and resolve post-launch issues.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and execute multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity and secrecy of the program.
  • Verizon Technical Lead to interface with OEMs.
  • Negotiate with OEMs and advocate for the interests of Verizon.
  • Determine gaps and drive features and priorities of the company into the Android platform.
  • Close open action items and drive items to completion with initiative and focus.
  • Manage senior level executive discussions making sure to focus on key items of interest to address with the OEM partners.
  • Strategist with a focus on innovation and cost reduction.
  • Proven track record to produce results.
  • Carry out sanity testing of new test device software as needed and push to fix any issues.
  • Work with internal cross functional teams (i.e. Supply Chain, Customer Care, etc.) to determine cost estimates to the business and identify solutions to minimize impact to the business.
  • Ability to break down and work through complex projects on their own with little assistance
  • Coordinate and track open items from Feature Lock down.
  • Ability to understand technical device requirements in order to speak to OEMs while making sure that they meet requirements.
  • Help test new device software upgrades and post process device log data as needed to ensure best customer experience and no negative billing impacts.
  • Strong communication skills to interface with various cross functional groups and the ability to formulate executive readouts so that all internal parties are kept in the loop and expectations are managed.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel.

  • Ability to balance multiple projects of varying duration supporting both the pipeline as well as projects underway.
  • Managed a team of direct and indirect resources to drive through the organization’s goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate multiple technologies across a wide variety of disciplines in order to design solutions focused on the end-to-end customer experience.
  • Detailed knowledge/experience working with a broad range of topics such as eUICC, mobile device Operating Systems, device User Interface concepts, GSMA specifications, and wireless network architecture.
  • Willingness to take complete ownership of project deliverables and work to meet scheduled deliverables with very little or no direct supervision.
