What you’ll be doing...

Verizon's Corporate Social Responsibility team is looking for a proactive Manager to develop and execute communication plans to help advance Verizon’s social responsibility strategy and related work to ensure the company is recognized as a social responsibility leader. These communication plans will continuously engage employees in Verizon CSR initiatives and inform both employees and consumers on how Verizon is using our technology and resources as a force for societal good.

This candidate is comfortable thinking big picture, will oversee our overall positioning and storytelling strategy and execute integrated communications plans to promote and share the impact of our various initiatives. The candidate should have demonstrated excellence in strategic communications including, integrated campaign development, writing, editing, and multi-platform content creation and can ensure we are leveraging various mediums for the most effective results.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive execution of integrated communications plans and campaigns, partnering withsustainability, brand creative, internal comms, PR & media relations, exec comms, public policy, sponsorships/events, and other relevant teams.
  • Drive awareness, alignment and engagement among employees for the company’s 2025 CSR strategy and goals.
  • Identify the best ways to engage employees to utilize the volunteer system take part in socially responsible volunteer efforts.
  • Support the strategy and messaging for volunteerism including key tentpole events in top-tier markets.
  • Develop a strategy and plan to position Verizon as a thought leader in the space, identifying relevant opportunities, stakeholders and platforms, internally and externally.
  • Evaluate and prepare briefing documents related to external conferences and opportunities to share the Verizon social responsibility message.
  • Write and edit content about the company’s social responsibility efforts - including press releases, speeches, websites, case studies, and other key messages.
  • Help to organize Verizon presence at key responsible business events, roundtables and dialogues externally, working with internal colleagues as necessary.
  • Identify opportunities to position Verizon leaders to internal and external audiences as a means to promote significant social responsibility achievements.
  • Maintain relationships with key social responsibility partners, acting as point of contact (where relevant) on communications-related issues and opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing communications support for incoming issues.
  • Pulling together and maintaining a 'resource drive' with: key briefings and talking points on CSR issues.
  • Developing and evolving templates for responding to internal requests on CSR.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or other related field majors.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience writing and managing communications plans


Even better if you have:

  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, interpersonal and presentation skills, and proven ability to successfully work in a matrix, decentralized organization
  • Experience/familiarity working in the Corporate Responsibility space
  • The ability to effectively interface with all levels of management and great executive presence
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships including vendor relationships
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and organization skills
  • Experience leading cross-functional task forces and collaborating with creative teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook); proficiency in Adobe products is a plus, but not required
