What you’ll be doing...

The Cell Site Hub Equipment Engineer will manage construction from initial CRAN hub shelter design through completed drawings including drawing review taking into account civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical feasibility of requested enhancement; provide value engineering, close out signoff, and change orders review. You directly influence the implementation of all of these aspects to create a cell site shelter environment to support a higher density of equipment.

  • Manage construction activities related to the development of multiple, simultaneous Network infrastructure projects to support required equipment density including; RFQ or RFP process, contract process, sealed bid, distributing bid packages, coordinating bid walk, awarding project, distributing equipment, monitoring progress, and reviewing construction close-out packages.
  • Provide financial management of projects from initial project creation, proposal/bid through receipt of final product or service.
  • Participate in team scope of work development and vendor implementation guidance.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by responding to e-mails promptly, actively participating in meetings, communicate clearly, and provide updates, update infrastructure records for materials on site.
  • Work with other departments, and understanding the impact of your position job to the overall business.
  • Establish quality assurance methods, procedures, standards, and technical training related to site design and construction.
  • Evaluate new products, services, and vendors that can benefit Verizon Wireless.
  • Weigh the pros and cons, including impact to the team, costs, compatibility, and ease of use, reliability, and timing parameters.

What we’re looking for...

You will manage skill set above to develop set of drawings with A&E firm to execute on physical movement of hardware, upgrade to higher amperage utility service, enhance mechanical cooling and tie all enhancements in with existing use of cell site shelter. Once design is complete construction project after bidding to select set of general contractors. Drive quality control while limiting VZW expenditure for project.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three of more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of cellular industry.
  • Experience with AC cell site utility power, DC power distribution, batteries and transfer switches.
  • Knowledge of mechanical cooling (2.5 – 7.5 ton unit’s w/economization).
  • Knowledge of 19” rack placement, overhead cable management, grounding and seismic evaluation.
  • A valid Driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel.

  • A degree.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft.
  • Experience with Sitetracker/FUZE SPM.
  • Knowledge of inventory management.
  • Knowledge of competitive bidding tools.
