What you’ll be doing...

This position requires a hard-working self-starter individual that can provide architectural leadership and direction for both the legacy in-home network and future in-premise network for Verizon across wired, wireless (cellular/5G), Wi-Fi (11ac/ad/ax/ay) and IOT (Z-Wave, Zigbee, Thread) network architectures in the Verizon Corporate Network & Technology organization. This position will contribute to the in-premise architecture team, enhancing legacy broadband networks/products to support future, high-bandwidth, in-home networking requirements through the creation of high-level design and requirements documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on embedded design and architecture of Verizon’s state-of-the-art, next-generation Home Gateway, networking & CPE systems software platforms & solutions.
  • Lead end-to-end product and service requirements definition for the consumer home router products.
  • Contribute to advanced services such as self-optimizing networks, WiFi motion analytics, and router security products.
  • Stay keenly abreast of current and emerging technologies in the consumer home space. Translate business requirements into practical and efficient end-to-end systems software designs.
  • Lead the evaluation and selection process for multiple system-level software modules and components for the Verizon CPE platforms / gateway / networking product family.
  • Work closely with several cross-functional teams in Verizon to ensure that the business needs of key stakeholder teams are met in a timely manner.
  • Lead multiple external software vendors on a regular basis through the end-to-end systems software platform design process and execution.
  • Adapt quickly to changes in business and/or strategic direction. Manage multiple priorities effectively and regularly to meet project timelines.
  • Contribute to end-to-end evaluation of vendor developed home network solutions and characterize its behavior for all in-home use cases that our customer could put it through.
  • Lead proof of concepts (POCs)with new technologies and architectures and work with the business unit to define service offerings around new technologies.
  • Clearly document and communicate design decisions, roadmaps and software platform recommendations to executive management within Verizon.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Strong experience in designing and validating end-to-end Wireless based system software.
  • Networking platforms / CPEs / routers / gateway systems design experience.
  • Experience in networking protocols and stacks, including LAN / WAN interfaces, 802.11x, Gigabit Ethernet and related technologies.
  • Experience in using Wireless testing gear like Veriwave, Litepoint and Octoscope.
  • Experience in low-level, OS kernel, middleware and application layer architectures.
