What you’ll be doing...

This position is a Construction Engineer project management job on the Cell Implementation Small Cell and Macro New Build team, which is highly demanding, fast-paced, stressful, and requires exceptional time management and communications skills. 80% of work is in an office environment and 20% of work requires travel and outside work. Most outside work is at outdoor cell sites/nodes throughout FL.

  • Provide project management and supervision of construction activities for multiple Network upgrade projects including: small cell 4G/5G, Macro New Build and RELO.
  • Provide complete ownership of project financials.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and concise communications; express and explain issues clearly; update project trackers daily; email and call project members frequently.
  • Provide clear direction and supervision to contractors, vendors, and/or other teams supporting upgrade projects.
  • Manage RFQ/RFP and contract processes via bid tools, awarding project, monitoring progress, providing regular status updates, and resolving issues.
  • Provide guidance for site surveys to ensure cell site upgrade projects account for civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical feasibility.
  • Review CDs to ensure documents accurately account for equipment, cell site dimensions, structural analysis, mounts, generators, and other ancillary equipment.
  • Review punch walk/acceptance check lists/site quality issues to ensure construction issues are identified and corrected.
  • Evaluate new products, services, and vendors. Weigh the pros and cons, including impact to the system, costs, compatibility, and ease of use, and reliability.
  • Interface with internal and external departments to include Real Estate, Regulatory, and municipal agencies in the pursuit of construction and in-service approvals, building permits, and construction inspections.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Five or more years of relevant work experience in the telecom industry (or military equivalent) with focus on cell site project management disciplines.
  • Knowledge of Alcatel-Lucent CDMA base stations; Ericsson LTE/AWS base stations; Ericsson Remote Radio Units; Ericsson small cell 4G/5G radios; JMA and Commscope Remote Electrical Tilt Antennas, hybrid cables, and CPRI mux/patch panels.
  • Highly proficient in computer applications: Google Gmail, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours; support night and weekend work; answer phone calls whenever crews are on site supporting your projects; respond to emails promptly; and actively lead and participate in project/team meetings.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Ability to manage changing priorities, competing priorities, and situations in which guidelines can change.
  • Knowledge of project management, budgeting process, Sarbanes-Oxley, and inventory controls.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, National Electrical Code requirements, environmental requirements.
  • Knowledge of site power plants to include: DC power systems, AC UPS systems, emergency generators, and corresponding distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of cell site design/engineering, construction, real estate, regulatory, and operations.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Analytic, interpersonal, and communication skills.
