What you’ll be doing...

The Network Cybersecurity Center (NCC) is Verizon’s 24x7 network threat management and incident response center. The NCC leadership team is looking for a motivated and highly skilled security professional to serve as a Senior Threat Intelligence Analyst. In this role, you will conduct security investigations, perform threat hunting, mentor junior analysts and lead on of three daily shifts.

  • Ensure shift coverage, analyst availability, ticket pickup times, and the overall quality of analysis work being performed during the shift.
  • Perform advanced threat detection, malware and threat hunting, anomaly detection, and security analytics.
  • Conduct digital forensic analysis, data recovery and other investigative activities to identify source of threat and contain it.
  • Provide network forensic and analytic support of large scale and complex security incidents such as targeted attacks and network infiltration.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to identify potential threats, suspicious/anomalous activity, malware, insider threats.
  • Analyze security incidents for further enhancement of alerting schema.
  • Identify data sources to enhance security event detection, monitoring, correlation and response capabilities.
  • Create and maintain informative technical and procedural documentation for various teams/stakeholders in order for others to effectively understand and use the data product/tools.
  • Provide analytics support through demonstrations as well as frequent interaction with peer teams to gauge effectiveness of the NCC threat management methods and procedures.
  • Work closely with a team of security and network SMEs to understand current environment and problems to solve.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with Security analytics, big data analysis or threat intelligence.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, other sciences or relevant discipline.
  • Two or more of years of experience in Web and application development.
  • Three or more years of experience in direct security analytics and big data analysis.
  • Security certifications: CISSP, CISM or GIAC.
  • Knowledge of regular expressions and one or more common scripting language (PERL, Python, VB Script).
  • Knowledge of the Splunk search language, search techniques, alerts, dashboards and report building.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and various operating systems such as Windows and UNIX.
  • Network troubleshooting, root cause analysis, host and network-based forensic experience.
