What you’ll be doing...

You will be a part of the Network Security 2.0 organization with emphasis on assessing and managing security risk on the Verizon Network. You will lead a team of dynamic Risk Analysts who work with various project teams to ensure compliance with corporate polices, standards, and practices as part of Verizon Network Security Risk Management. You will reduce technical risk in the Company’s networks, mobile devices, services and other products by integrating security measures into the development lifecycle. You will have a strong background in threat analysis, risk evaluation, security methodology and countermeasures, more specifically the following:

  • Employ industry-standard technical risk evaluation skills and techniques to promote the most cost effective and balanced security controls which adequately safeguard the Company, its customers, sensitive assets, and brand reputation.
  • Create or co-develop processes, procedures, other supporting documentation, and solutions that promote compliance and reduce risk.
  • Contribute as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on a broad range of security topics.
  • Provide and communicate solutions for security issues to senior management.
  • Ensure reporting and KPIs are timely and properly presented to leadership and teams.
  • Research new techniques and technologies that yield cost-effective controls.
  • Perform administrative functions to ensure all projects and vulnerabilities are accurately documented and remediated timely.
  • Continually coach and mentor individual contributors to foster optimal performance.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Degree in Information Systems, Technology, Information Assurance, Information Security or related field.
  • CRISC, CISSP, CISM, GSEC certifications.
  • Experience in technical security, risk/threat analysis and evaluation, control mitigation and gap remediation.
  • Experience in wireless and wireline networks.
  • Knowledge of emerging technology/ regulations and the security governance implications.
  • Experience implementing standards, policies and controls.
  • Knowledge of cyber security risk management concepts, cybersecurity frameworks, control standards, secure coding principles, and security technologies.
  • Knowledge of information security fundamentals, best practices and industry standards with responsibilities of protecting information assets.
  • Proven expertise in security risk management while considering business drivers and implications.
  • Experience with ISO 27001-2, NIST 800-53, or other security frameworks.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Ability to develop creative and innovative solutions to complex business issues.
  • Experience in working with penetration testing and vendors.
  • Knowledge of fundamental defensive security constructs, including digital signatures, symmetric and asymmetric encryption, firewalls, PKI, key entropy, software protection mechanisms, DRM and mobile application/OS security.
