What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon Design Team is a growing internal group tasked with evolving the Verizon customer experience across all channels and touchpoints through the design and implementation of innovative products and services.

Centered in a newly designed studio space at 140 West Street, the team is assembling the brightest designers, design strategists, researchers, and product managers to collaborate with teams shaping customer journeys.

As a Design Operations Program Manager, you will work closely with the Design Operations Director and a team of Program Managers to define, implement, and evolve critical approaches to our people, projects, and processes. By supporting all aspects of the design teams, you will enable designers to focus their time on designing, building, and shipping products. You will improve team communication, culture, collaboration, and remove roadblocks.

You’ll define, implement, and facilitate ways of working to provide ongoing insight into how we set priorities, deploy valuable resources, and improve the effectiveness and impact of our work. You'll have an opportunity to work with cross-functional teams to connect customers’ experience to the Verizon brand through elegantly crafted design frameworks that translate across lines of business. One in three Americans uses Verizon services, so your work will have meaningful impact at a massive scale.

  • Support design teams to scope new product initiatives, identify priorities, and deliver key projects, that have multiple stakeholders and moving parts.
  • Define and support strategic initiatives that improve operations team efficiency and impact.
  • Facilitate meetings to drive progress against goals and objectives, establishing clear next steps and owners, and resolving blocks that impede progress.
  • Proactively assess risk, and resolve issues before they become problems for the larger teams.
  • Measure impact of programs and initiatives both qualitatively and quantitatively
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, engineering, product design, user research, and content strategy to ensure a smooth product development process.
  • Support the management team with effective team communication, proactive problem solving, information distribution.
  • Establish and execute activities that build team culture and community, team values and trust, and help individuals tie their work back to Verizon’s mission.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of experience working with design and product teams from road-mapping through delivery.
  • Four or more years of experience working directly with product designers, UX researchers, and content strategists.
  • Experience working with design and product teams from road-mapping through delivery.

Even better if you have:

  • Six or more years of experience as a project manager or program manager with experience establishing programs, defining and iterating on process, supporting design teams, and developing relationships.
  • Experience communicating with data to drive change.
  • Strong design leadership skills with experience partnering with product and business teams.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas and express them in concise, simple to understand ways.
  • Ability to drive results at all levels regardless of reporting structures.
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines with changing priorities.
  • Experience with human-centered design methodologies, empathy for end users, and passion for teaching and learning from others to shape process and culture.
  • Willingness to travel between Basking Ridge and New York City locations as needed.
  • Proven track record of strategy, project delivery, and leadership.
  • Agency management experience.
