What you’ll be doing...

You'll serve as the leader responsible for the global operations, strategic vision and direction of the Global Payroll organization. Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of payrolls in North America, EMEA, APAC and LATAM paying approximately 135,000 + employees weekly, bi-weekly and monthly, utilizing both internal processing and managing outsource vendor relationships.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with multiple external and internal stakeholders and service providers, including ADP and International Payroll Providers, among others. Data Owner and Trustee for the Payroll PeopleSoft ERP application including both domestic and international data
  • Ensure a high quality outcome and positive customer service experience for all employees, as well as support to Finance and HR organizations of the company
  • Protect Verizon's reputation as a Payroll provider by ensuring our internal and external payroll processes meet all audit, legal, security and compliance tests. Responsible for ensuring successful mitigation of payroll issues and problems in line with regulatory constraints, company policy and the needs of the business
  • Ensure all SLA and accuracy metrics are identified, managed and met. Development and production of effective payroll reporting and metrics to ensure highest quality operations and client satisfaction. Meet annual accuracy target so that our internal and external payrolls meet or exceed the industry benchmarks
  • Ensure the Payroll system and all data stored in it is accurate, secure, maintained and audited. Ensure compliance with all Verizon, International & Domestics data privacy laws and regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
  • Responsible for production of all domestic and international employee annual statutory forms (W-2s, 1095C, T-4s, etc.) and other year-end reporting as required by law
  • Effectively manage special payroll runs including annual compensation increases, bonuses, Associate General Wage Increases, Income Protection, Legal settlements, Commission and supplemental payrolls
  • Responsible for the management and career development of the Payroll organization which includes over 100 domestic and international employees
  • Responsible for leading and managing the Payroll Operations, Production Processing and Operation Support and Process Integration functions
  • Exhibit expert understanding of local, state, federal and/or Country payroll requirements, model outcomes when variables change, and reach relevant conclusions. Ensure effective controls and compliance with all relevant policies, laws and regulations

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Business or related field or equivalent experience
  • Certification such as CPP preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience with Payroll processing systems
  • 5+ years’ experience managing a large organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with proven ability to manage diverse teams.
  • Expert understanding of local, state, federal and/or Country payroll requirements
  • International experience strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills to review results and presents data in a manner that influences and drives the business to achieve strategic goals
  • Strong risk and resource management, ability to identify key assumptions, model outcomes and conclusions, risks and opportunities for the organization
  • Ability to continually research processes to develop best practice methodology. Monitors trends related to customers, competitors, and other groups that impact Payroll
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to ensure solutions that meet business needs while promoting efficient payroll operations (e.g., establish guiding principles and standards)
  • Strong experience with Payroll, Time and Labor applications, PeopleSoft Payroll and HRIS
  • Comprehensive understanding of all local, state, federal Payroll Tax and Wage Attachment remittance and filing requirements
  • Strong experience with Payroll data/configuration, understanding of organizational structure related with company transfers, mergers, and or acquisitions
  • Excellent project and program management skills, ability to manage all aspects of project management, including risk and contingency
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
