What you’ll be doing...

Our Corporate Accounting team is the global professional practices group within Verizon. You will be participating in strategic initiatives, new product offerings, partnerships/joint ventures and other key drivers of Verizon’s future growth. Come help us keep our Finance team running better every day.

  • Assisting senior management with making critical business decisions by providing the proper accounting treatment and impact analysis.
  • Accelerating transformation and change, creating best practices and driving continuous process improvement.
  • Working with department and business leaders on front-end process ideas, solutions and change.
  • Establishing, maintaining and supporting compliance with company-wide accounting policies.
  • Researching accounting issues and preparing accounting documentation to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Reviewing and providing technical guidance for material transactions and complex accounting issues.
  • Supporting implementation of new accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory accounting.
  • Providing guidance and support for other finance and business unit initiatives.
  • Supporting quarterly close process and related disclosures.
  • Interacting with the Company's external auditors.

What we’re looking for...

You’re diligent, organized, and on top of the details—your projects run like clockwork. You can look at the big picture and see how the pieces fit together. You can oversee multiple initiatives like a conductor leads an orchestra. And you know accounting like the back of your hand.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • CPA certification.
  • Six or more years of experience in Accounting/Finance.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Four or more years of Big 4 experience.
  • Technical financial skills and a comprehensive understanding of accounting, GAAP, PCAOB standards and SEC regulations.
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Established project management experience and proven ability to work with numerous different groups throughout an extremely large organization.
  • Demonstrated track record of attention to detail, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, SEC requirements and tax reporting.
  • Knowledge of FASB requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of report query and design.
