What you’ll be doing...

The Network Repair Bureau (NRB) is part of the Global Network Management organization and is the only customer facing department within Network. The NRB is responsible for the analysis, resolution, and follow up of customer impacting events within the Verizon Wireless network. The position requires a comprehensive understanding the architecture and overall system functionality including both voice and data networks. Responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshooting the wireless voice/data network architectures relating to system performance impairments in roaming, transport, hardware & software faults, translations, and voice/data elements. Working with external and internal Verizon organizations to coordinate and troubleshoot network events.
  • Managing trouble tickets, outage communications, and process escalations for internal and external customers. Generating, driving, and updating trouble tickets via internal ticketing system.
  • Performing fault isolation, triaging, and repairing network events to ensure the health of our network.
  • Correlating and trending of tickets. Analyzing and interpreting complex voice/data call flows and knowledge of call routing translations and dialing plans.
  • Enhancing automation through scripting and robotics process automation (RPA) to improve team functions and efficiency.
  • Communicating technical details to customer service centers, technical support organizations, and executive management teams during network events and major outages. Providing timely and accurate network information to both management and other groups during network events and major outages.
  • Identifying efficiencies to reduce cycle time in resolving customer troubles, and interface with vendors and various engineering teams to ensure that defects in software or hardware are corrected.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • Willingness to work rotating schedule (shifts) including nights, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the business.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • Experience driving automation initiatives.
  • Knowledge with Synchronis Data Link Control (SDLC) concepts and methodologies, supporting automation initiatives and process improvements.
  • Knowledge of Cloud and Virtualized solutions (OpenStack/VMWare).
  • Network Operations Center experience.
  • Scripting with Python, No-JS, Perl, or equivalent languages.
  • IP networking certifications.
  • Grasp complex technical concepts through on the job training
  • Innovator/Out of the box thinker.
