What you’ll be doing…

You’re an expert with HVAC, plumbing, electrical and even building mechanicals… and if there’s a maintenance problem with our building, you’ve got it covered!  Your know-how and commitment to excellence will ensure that Verizon’s building systems always operate at maximum efficiency.


Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and installing mechanical and electrical systems including building control systems, heating and conditioning systems, fire detection systems, security systems, energy management systems and fuel dispensing systems.
  • Maintaining any other systems that may be installed in our buildings to maintain environments, safety, security or remote monitoring of central offices.
  • Using general and specialized tools, test meters, and gauges commonly used in connection with air conditioning, air handling and heating plant maintenance and other building equipment.
  • Interacting with other departments, customers and vendors.
  • Climbing ladders, working aloft, lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 150 pounds occasionally; pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, and crawling; and manual dexterity.
  • Driving to building locations using a company vehicle.
  • Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as determined by the needs of the business.


What we’re looking for…

You know HVAC and other building systems like the back of your hand, and are anxious to put your knowledge and skills to work for the Verizon Team.  You like to be busy and well-organized to stay on top of things.  You take pride in a job well done because you know better matters!

You’ll need to have:

  • Two (2) year Associate degree or equivalent certification from a technical or vocational school in ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical work and heating plant operations and maintenance.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in ventilating and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical work and heating plant operations and maintenance. 
  • A Universal Technician Certification as designated by EPA regulations-40 CFR Part 82 Subpart H.
  • In accordance with local laws and ordinances, you must have and maintain a valid refrigeration license and must be able to pass, obtain and keep current a certificate of fitness for one or all of the following:  oil burner, fire standpipe, sprinkler, and air compressor operations.
  • Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
