What you’ll be doing...

As the Product Delivery Engineer – Security, you will apply your technical expertise and product knowledge to support the critical function of Offering Delivery & Transformation (OD&T) for the Global Customer Operations organization. Your role will involve the technical analysis and verification of products leveraging security technologies to enable digital transformation initiatives of Verizon Business Group customers. The Product Delivery Engineer will focus on the following areas:

  • Working closely with development engineers, implementation engineers, and OD&T Product Solutions Engineers to ensure new product launches meet both time to market and customer experience requirements.
  • Providing feedback on product to the Product Development engineering team to ensure product is feasible and incorporates requirements for implementation and service assurance.
  • Acting as the technical interface with product during delivery process design.
  • Designing and executing the necessary testing to validate operational readiness for service assurance and delivery functions.
  • Providing onboarding support by leading implementation for initial customers of new product launch.
  • Generating documentation required for test planning and execution, implementation guides, management solution guidelines, and troubleshooting and operational support guidelines.
  • Strategic analysis and comparison of competitive security evolution and trends (e.g., Firewall capabilities, analytics, High Availability deployment models).
  • Supporting the integration of security solutions with other networking technology infrastructures (e.g., MPLS VPNs) (Private IP Networks), broadband access, SDWAN and Network Function Virtualization (NFV).
  • Technical participation and feedback for both product development and customer trials of security products.

You’ll need to have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with development or support of products leveraging security solutions in a physical and/or virtual deployment in both customer premise and hosted environment.
  • Experience with security solutions from vendors such as Palo Alto, Juniper, Cisco, Fortinet, and Checkpoint.
  • Technical experience with security technologies (e.g., analytics, Intrusion Detection, Intrusion Prevention, VPN Clients, IPSEC, QOS, NAT).
  • Experience in the communications and/or network industry in an operations, technical design and engineering role with an emphasis on IP-based network, communications, and security solutions.
  • Architecture experience in the conceptualization, definition, and development of large enterprise or service provider-based products and services with verifiable instances implementing one or more of the following:
    • Data and IP Services (Managed Network Services, VoIP, MPLS, VPN, VNS, SDWAN).
    • Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, event collection, content development, and log data optimization.
    • Web proxies, content filters, or e-mail protection devices.
    • Firewalls (e.g. Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto).
    • Vulnerability and compliance scanners.
    • Network traffic flow devices (e.g. Gigamon, Netoptics).
    • Network technologies (e.g., SONET, TDM, DWDM, TCP/IP, routing, switching).
    • Systems knowledge of Linux, Windows, and virtualization (Hyper-V/ESXi/Openstack).

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in a scientific or quantitative field (e.g. math, EE, computer science).
  • Programming language or scripting experience (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  • Direct configuration and troubleshooting experience with Palo Alto, Foritnet, or Cradlepoint firewalls as well as Netscaler, ZScaler and other security related physical and virtual devices.
  • Experience with fault management, alarm and incident handling workflow automation, and performance management tools (e.g., Assure1, SMARTS, SevOne, ServiceNow).
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; capability to communicate internally, upward, and cross functionally
  • Technical skill and an appreciation of business trends and drivers to understand market launch priorities along with operational support efficiencies.
