This is a highly visible role within the Automotive OEM Product team with a customer set including most all of the largest Automotive Brands. It will require you to bring a love for complex Wireless and Automotive systems, highly technical information, and leadership capabilities. You will lead a cross-functional teams with our OEM’s to chart a new path for our intelligent Driving ecosystem.

You will lead product development activities for of a set of products within the Verizon Connect Consumer and Commercial roadmap for millions of connected vehicles globally. You will focus on the execution and build of our Product Portfolio.

You will perform a blend of technical activities across the roles of Project Management and Product Management to drive the Product Development process. At times, clarity requirements, create schedules, execute tasks and activities, manage internal stakeholders like security, testing, quality, and manage the launches of new products in the emerging areas of Telematics (Connected Vehicle Services).

  • Create and maintain a consolidated timeline/schedule w/ major milestones & dates for project activities.
  • Identify and communicate project dependencies and impacts; Putting mechanisms in place to ensure on-going control of the project (e.g., Kick-off meeting, Map days, overall Project Management Approach, Comms Plan, Risk Management, Issues Management, Change Control, Retrospectives etc.)
  • Clarify team roles and responsibilities through techniques such a RAID, RAPID.
  • Communicate the project’s progress on an on-going basis, ensuring transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide leadership and key stakeholders with the information and venues to make effective, timely decisions.
  • Establish and manage lean execution processes for multiple system and network teams within Verizon.
  • Ensure measurement, reporting & resolution for lean/agile team metrics such as Cumulative Flow, Lead Team, Cycle Time, etc.
  • Facilitate team level ceremonies & delivery practices (e.g. standups, iteration planning, retrospectives, value stream mapping, Kaizen events etc.), removing impediments to the team's success, and resolving conflict within the team.
  • Drive program delivery of SaaS and systems through lean prototyping, building, testing, and delivery to market.
  • Manage key new product planning & operations for pre-production builds from development build through production.
  • Work with ordering, billing, CRM, Customer Care, and Network teams to define & communicate service requirements and OEM requirements.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven track record w/ five years of professional experience in managing technical projects product development, program and /or product management.
  • Experience managing projects for IT systems, Telematics or IOT / devices, wireless systems. Development, testing, and deployment.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • An MBA.
  • Project Management Certification.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or DFSS (preferred Black Belt level).
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver highly complex and high stakes projects with multiple dependencies and constraints.
  • Ability to be a great facilitator of discussion and dialogue to drive various team planning events and activities.
  • Experience in challenging situations and overcoming setbacks during team events and execution.
  • Experience operating in both lean and waterfall product development environment, comfortable defining and leading software development processes. Note: Verizon operates Lean, but OEM’s often require waterfall.
  • Experience in continuous improvement activities with proven results. Experience utilizing and deploying Lean, Six Sigma and/or DFSS methodologies and tools.
  • Communication skills and tell stories that will help your teams execute.
  • Ability to operate in a highly matrixed, globally distributed organization & manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment.
