What you’ll be doing...

We’re looking for an Aviation Communications Program Manager to join our aviation strategy team. You’ll be working in an exciting startup environment within the foundation of a large company (Verizon). In this role, you will be contributing to the future of cellular connected aviation.

As an Aviation Communications Program Manager, you will own and drive on-going projects within Skyward's Strategic programs team creating new cellular-connected drone technology and advancing projects with regulatory agencies and industry groups. In this role, you'll work with Verizon network and product representatives, existing flight-testing partners, and cellular and autopilot vendors to develop 4G LTE & 5G connected drone technology. You’ll support Skyward and partner-led flight test campaigns by applying your project management and system integration skills.

  • Work within a small, multidisciplinary technical team to manage the implementation of projects to flight test cellular-connected drones and cellular-coverage mapping instruments.

  • Produce and review requirements, integration plans, and flight test plans based on stakeholder needs and technical product objectives.

  • Monitor and report on technical project schedules across multiple lines of effort.

  • Document deliverables and hold teammates accountable for meeting those deliverables.

  • Provide integration support, such as communicating component specifications and product milestone goals to Verizon network representatives and public and private flight testing partners.

  • Support aircraft procurement and integration planning for existing Skyward customers seeking to operate Beyond Visual Line of Sight over 4G LTE and 5G by identifying, tracking, and coordinating critical tasks.

  • Limited domestic travel (<10%) may be required for on-site partner visits and flight operations.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as engineering or computer science or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Six or more years of aviation or telecommunications experience.

  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Even better if you have:

  • PMP certification

  • Strong project management skills and ability to implement existing project plans, modifying as needed.

  • Ability to work across dispersed, multidisciplinary teams, in the cellular and drone industries.

  • Strong verbal and written skills as well as organizational abilities.

  • Ability to respond to shifting priorities.

  • Prior experience with embedded systems, drones, aviation, or cellular communications technology.

  • Familiarity with applicable drone Federal Aviation Administration regulations.

  • Prior flight testing or aerospace operations experience.

  • FAA Part 107 certification.

  • UAV or aircraft Computer/Avionics or Systems Integration.

  • Experience operating in both Agile and Waterfall development environments.

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with and motivate team members, peers and leadership.

  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
