What you’ll be doing...

This position has a key leadership role in driving both the short term and long term strategies for customer payments across all Verizon business units by collaborating with Marketing and bringing industry expertise to the table to develop payment products to be offered to our customers. In this position, you will employ innovative thinking to drive strategies which will optimize the customer experience while managing costs.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Driving new payment offerings utilizing technologies and concepts both internal to Verizon as well as those outside the business.
  • Driving collaboration with external vendors to develop unique and innovative solutions specifically for Verizon which will differentiate us in the market.
  • Overseeing 15 employees with highly diverse skillsets and work experience who set and implement strategy for 50M+ payments/month, bringing in $100B+/year to the business.
  • Understanding new payment technologies and how they could be leveraged for Verizon’s benefit.
  • Selecting which payment methods are available for new products, balancing cost, risk and customer preference.
  • Defining the roadmap for new payment methodologies, understanding how new options could be leveraged to provide a competitive advantage for Verizon.
  • Delivering new payment options to our customers as well as updating existing options to improve customer service and/or cost.
  • Managing vendors who provide payment services to Verizon. Negotiating contracts so that Verizon receives high quality service at the best possible price, along with sufficient contractual incentive for the vendor to meet or exceed SLAs.
  • Acting as liaison with other leadership across the company related to customer experience and marketing opportunities. Specifically, partnering with collections and customer service centers across all Verizon lines of business to identify opportunities to improve the customer experience and improve dollars collected and with Marketing to develop leading edge Payment Products, leveraging existing or future Verizon technology.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have…

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant leadership work experience in Payments, with a minimum of 9 years of general related experience.
  • Experience working with value chain in payments and defining what role a company should play to win.

    Even better if you have…

  • MBA or related advanced degree or certifications preferred.
  • Deep experience working in the Payment industry and with established payment methodologies such as Card, ACH and EDI payments.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically to drive the best solution for a company, not simply optimizing payment costs.
  • Demonstrated communication and persuasion skills for technical and complex concepts, with experience successfully tailoring communication approaches for audiences from various functions and levels within the organization.
  • Extensive leadership experience and proven ability to meet deadlines, provide strategic direction and governance to multiple complex projects simultaneously and produce high quality results in a fast-paced, high pressure, dynamic work environment.
  • Experience influencing others to align stakeholders and successfully execute on a systems/product roadmap.
  • Proven skills in delighting customers via strong process and policy design with a focus on cost management.
  • Ability to maintain strong relations with Cross-Functional Teams and External Partners.
  • Motivated, self-starter and highly collaborative approach.
  • Well versed in the cost and risk profiles and technical and legal requirements of all payment methodologies available in Verizon.
