What you’ll be doing...

As the Manager, Device Planning, you'll leverage your product management background and serve as the lead for developing the Verizon Business Group (VBG) device portfolio. You will evaluate OEM device submissions, decide on the device feature set and positioning within the Verizon portfolio and manage the launch timelines.You will have to manage multiple products from ranging/on-boarding to device launch across various product types. Focus will be on data-centric devices including routers, jetpacks, and fixed wireless assets. You will also be responsible for helping to commercialize current and future network capabilities on these new Verizon compatible devices. Your work will help maintain Verizon’s leadership position by anticipating consumer needs and shaping our future offerings to meet them. Your vision and leadership will help us realize what’s next for Verizon.

  • Work closely with the device OEMs to determine, manage and plan an launch schedule within the entire product development cycle. Some of your functions will involve partnering with the OEMs to vet their device proposals and award device ranging. You’ll also determine product / feature alignment, manage schedules across multiple teams and work with respective IMC/GTM peers to drive awareness and socialization of your product.
  • Drive and lead large cross functional teams to create and communicate a Verizon strategy (18+ month view) for integrating network features and Verizon services (e.g. 5G rollout, Advanced LTE features, Cat-M1, Network Lock etc.) on future devices that operate on the Verizon network.
  • Responsible for device operations – provide feedback on product requirements, perform gap analysis and communicate product needs to various OEMs across product lines
  • Collaborate with VZ network teams and device manufacturers/chipset vendors for network FOA and early lab testing.
  • Manage defects tracking system and device operations dashboard for returns analysis
  • Manage device COGS and pricing strategy to maximize Verizon and market needs.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience in a product management, product development, or related field.

  • Three or more years in the wireless/telecommunications or related field.

  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A Master’s degree.

  • Translated market knowledge and strategy into compelling stories and tools for the business.

  • Authored device requirements and test plans for any technology in your previous roles.

  • Router/Jetpack/CPE/Fixed Wireless experience.

  • Experience with product launches and developing product roadmaps in an eighteen month timeframe.

  • Strong communication, presentation, decision making and negotiation skills.

  • Experience in project management tools and techniques.

  • Experience learning about new wireless products, devices and software technology/application trends.

  • Experience building cross-functional relationships in a fast paced, demanding environment.

  • Digital experience and an understanding of trends and key business drivers.

  • Experience with product launches and developing product roadmap.

  • Technical and analytical skills, including the ability to understand and effectively communicate highly complex technical information.
