What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon Corporate Information Security (CIS) organization securely enables the business by protecting assets and information across Verizon networks, infrastructure and applications. CIS integrates cybersecurity governance, policies, technologies and operations across Verizon, and works to incorporate security into the design of technology systems and services.

The Cyber Programs and Assurance team provides services in Governance, Compliance, Third Party Risk, Education and Awareness, Mergers and Acquisitions and PCI compliance. In addition to these services we are responsible for strategy execution, helping shape and drive projects to mature our cybersecurity capabilities.

You will be responsible for leading and coordinating, articulating, and tracking actions related to developing and driving the implementation of the cyber assurance plans, ensuring effective cyber security practices, and engaging with business unit members on a wide range of cyber security matters to achieve overall business objectives. You will also perform research and oversee activities as assigned, and lead a team of eight or more cybersecurity professionals.

  • Direct the Security Initiatives Program, and drive the overall strategy and operations to reduce risk.
  • Lead and engage with the business and various functions such as finance, legal, regulatory, compliance, audit, and supply chain on security topics related to third party risk, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, security processes, strategy execution, etc.
  • Work with the business on effective risk mitigation plans and address matters requiring executive escalation and decision making.
  • Provide advice and counsel to business executives regarding key initiatives that could be impacted by compliance, risk or security issues.
  • Implement corporate wide cyber security programs in line with defined strategy.
  • Lead in the collection and analysis of metrics to measure and report the effectiveness of security solutions and drive improved results.
  • Lead in analyzing components of the Information Security Program to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish and foster partnership and trust between the CIS teams and business.
  • Work hand in hand with security program management and tactical deployment teams to ensure alignment with strategy and vision.
  • Integrate process optimization and innovating engineering efforts.
  • Develop and promote best practices as enterprise standards.
  • Build the necessary internal relationships and communication networks among the broader information security team and line-of-business executives, corporate compliance, audit, physical security, legal and HR management teams to ensure continued alignment.
  • Lead and develop a team of eight or more cybersecurity professionals.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have:

  • Knowledge of cyber security risk management concepts, cyber security frameworks, control standards, threat modeling, and security technologies.
  • Knowledge of information security fundamentals, best practices and industry standards with experience protecting information assets.
  • Experience with NIST CSF, ISO 27001/2, NIST 800-53, or other controls standards.
  • Experience managing information security functions, strategy and risk within a Fortune 500 company.
  • Experience executing on strategy frameworks with proven results.
  • Strong communication, presentation and analytical skills along with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong relationship skills and collaborative style to enable success across multiple partners.
  • Proven track record of building, training, and developing a high-performing team, and the ability to lead and motivate the team to achieve tactical and strategic goals, even when only "dotted line" reporting lines exist.
