What you’ll be doing...
As a Junior Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) consultant you will join the Worldwide EHS `Team and support the provision of EHS services across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, and The Czech Republic. You will also work on other projects across EMEA where Verizon is located.
Your work will include:
- Keeping abreast of changes to EHS regulations and guidance that may impact the business and work with internal clients to ensure compliance.
- Preparing EHS programs and audit compliance of internal programs with local regulations.
- Completing site inspections and risk assessments.
- Facilitating incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Acting as the EHS point of contact (both internally and externally) across nominated countries of responsibility.
- Working closely with various internal work groups including legal, human resources, network and infrastructure engineering, technical operations, real estate, safety committees and the works councils.
- Undertaking other functions to support the EHS Team as well as ensuring consistency in the direction and application of global EHS policies and programs.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science or Management, Engineering, or other relevant qualifications and work experience.
- 2 - 5 year’s experience in an EHS role preferably in a consultancy, services or production environment.
- Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit certificate, or similar, if base qualification is not in health and safety.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal).
- Willingness to travel within Europe on short term assignments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time and a willingness to reprioritize workload depending on business demands.
- Ability to work autonomously but also within a team environment.
- An excellent working knowledge of MS Office programs and Google suite.
Even better if you:
- Have experience working for a large or multi-national organization and dealing with all levels of an organization.
- Have familiarity with current laws, standards, practices, and procedures within the EHS field.
- Have a consultative and influential communication style.
- Are highly motivated and readiness to use initiative and problem solve.
- Have the ability to objectively investigate complex issues and come up with practical workable solutions.
- Have experience in ergonomic and general risk assessment processes.
- Have good research skills and attention to detail.
- Are fluent in German.
