This internship position – which is part of the Verizon Campus Program – will give you a chance to channel your drive and enthusiasm while learning from the best minds in the industry. You’ll be front and center, hands-on and contributing your creative energy to high-impact projects from the moment you arrive through the course of this 10-week experience. You will take part in meaningful work and real-life projects within the Verizon Corporate Communications Team that will help you grow both professionally and personally throughout the program.

As a Corporate Communications Intern, you may have the opportunity to:

  • Support the communications team by creating compelling content from concept to delivery.
  • Write articles, leadership messages, organizational announcements, video scripts, social media posts and press releases.
  • Create, plan, and execute communications strategies for several different meetings and events (e.g., Senior Leadership Forums, Quarterly Earnings Meetings, etc.).
  • Attend Editorial Board meetings and provide ideas and suggestions.
  • Research topics, write copy, proofread, edit, get approvals and prepare for delivery on multiple channels.
  • Think holistically and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Help evolve the delivery platforms as well as to grow readership/followers.
  • Work on the fly, provide feedback, take feedback and get approvals.
  • Support the facilitation of measurement activities on internalcommunications channels.
  • Work on special content projects and other duties, as assigned.

You must be currently enrolled in a degree program and be in good academic standing to be considered.

You’ll need to have:

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Communications, Creative Writing, Journalism, English, Linguistics, Marketing, or a related major with an expected completion date between December 2021 and June 2023.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship.
  • Willingness to work in Basking Ridge, NJ.

Even better if you have:

  • Demonstrated passion for communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as good time management and project management skills.
  • Critical thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to present ideas and information in a concise, organized manner.
  • Demonstrated proper use of English grammar and punctuation in verbal and written communications,with an emphasis on writing, editorial skills and formats.
  • Ability to write content including articles, statements, blog posts, social media posts, headlines and executive messages.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the digital/social landscape.
  • Experience working with an editorial calendar and driving a content plan.
  • Demonstrated creative thinking about communications topics and engagement strategies.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets).
