What you’ll be doing...

The Artificial Intelligence & Data (AI&D) Organization is an exciting new center of excellence supporting all of Verizon, reporting into the Global Network & Technology team. Our team will be a catalyst to Verizon's future in creating networks that move the world forward through the power of Artificial Intelligence & Data.

You will be a strategic thinker joining a high profile, high visibility team that powers Network analytics and strategic thinking for Verizon. You will lead a team that builds tools, analyses, and insights that informs, quantifies, and enables the visualization of data to drive business decisions for all of Verizon’s Networks.

You will lead a team and together create the Artificial Intelligence roadmap for AI&D team as well as implement and deliver use cases. You will partner with and leverage the strength of our internal Data Science center as well as with vendor partners. You will lead data science projects that drive digital sales and service, product recommendation & personalization, marketing effectiveness, channel optimization, better customer experience, and operational efficiency. You’ll work closely with a team of data scientists, big data engineers, and software developers and play a key role in developing and delivering the next generation Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning solutions that generate substantial value for the business. You and your team will manage a pipeline of AI use cases from ideation to implementation.

New and Emerging Technologies:

  • Act as a thought leader and act as a forward-leaning partner with your business team to shape, prioritize, and deliver strategy for the business unit across data governance, data architecture, and AI/ML.
  • Partner with the business to ensure our organization’s strategy is aligned with new technologies and supportive of wider business unit strategic goals.
  • Partner with technology, security, legal, and privacy to ensure a strategy for the business is also defined in the context of the overall group strategy.
  • Design, develop, implement, and oversee high-end analytical/technology processes and solutions with a focus on leveraging advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence methods.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in AI and technology space, finding ways to deliver value by applying and customizing these to our specific problem space.
  • Help create an environment where our scientists are engaged in pioneering work that can be shared with the world in a number of ways like open source, publications, etc.
  • Inspire our team to create monetizable AI applications that can be leveraged both within Verizon and externally with Verizon’s partners.

  • People leader role will report to the Executive Director of AI&D Enablement, and include the leadership and development of a team of senior manager people leaders
  • Relies on direct reports to deliver results at a high level of independence who help drive decisions and recommendations beyond routine tasks.
  • Develop, broaden, and communicate functional goals from high level objectives while managing policies and procedures.
  • Exercise considerable judgement in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Business Intelligence & Automation:

  • Develop and grow automated platforms and tools to distribute competitive intelligence information to the broader organization.
  • Compute and automate network capital and operating costs for competitors, to identify areas of opportunities to optimize spend.
  • Define key success metrics and create automated dashboards and reports to communicate results and monitor KPIs.
  • Lead the creation of new data processes as identified through industry benchmarking and collaboration with Verizon's data scientist community.
  • Identify reusable datasets across the company that can be leveraged by multiple teams
  • Being the go-to-person for the data scientists and analysts for competitive datasets and automation projects.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with finance, 1ERP and data management engineers and business stakeholders to ensure data governance audit standards.

Executive Presentations:

  • Ability to analyze complex data sets, draw conclusions and relationships and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Effectively communicate actionable insights to category leads supporting their goals and objectives.
  • Prepare executive level presentations to clearly articulate results of complex mathematical analysis through strategic storytelling.

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or business related field. Successful completion of a Masters of Science or MBA program is strongly preferred.
  • Seven or more years of experience in analysis, research, or financial management experience performing detailed analysis.
  • Four or more years of experience with big strategy/technology consulting firms is preferred.
  • Three or more years with process, data, and automation work. Certifications in data analytics, Six Sigma, or finance are also preferred.
  • Three or more years using technical business intelligence tools (Tableau, PowerPivot), pattern recognition, and visualization experience.
  • Experience effectively leading large cross-functional initiatives, including adoption of associated support processes, and managing over 10 stakeholders.
  • Exceptional technical, verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to present to internal and external audiences.
  • Sound knowledge of current technologies and technology landscape is required to be successful in this role.
  • Experience with Big Data architecture and mining for insights across various data sources.
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Experience using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse and data lake technology (Teradata, Hadoop, No SQL, graph DB).
  • Ability to drive business results with data-based insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
