What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Business Product Organization provides product management and architecture expertise across a multi-vendor, multi-tower, and complex portfolio of products and services in support of our Verizon Business Group (VBG) customers. Our customers range from small business to Fortune 100 multinational corporations, span nearly every major industry on the globe, and include public and private sectors. As the MTIPS Security Architect working on the Verizon MTIPS product offering, you will be responsible for the security stack within the Managed Trusted Internet Protocol Service (MTIPS). You will interact with many internal and external teams and partners, collaborate on solutions to solve complex problems, and ensure platforms remain ready to create the solutions our Public Sector customers count on.


  • The MTIPS Security Architect will work closely with the MTIPS Technical Lead, MTIPS Network Architect, MTIPS Software Lead, Lab Managers, Operations teams, and others to ensure the MTIPS platform meets the security needs of federal agencies.
  • The MTIPSSecurity Architect will be responsible for selection and integration of diverse security capabilities to meet customer needs and will work closely with product management to design solutions identified in the product roadmap balancing time to market and budgetary constraints.
  • Understanding of industry leading security technologies including firewalls, Unified Threat Management (UTM) Devices, SIEM engines, security proxies, VPNs, and other enterprise grade security services.
  • Configuring security equipment and the implementation of security policies for said equipment. This applies to both securing infrastructure within the MTIPS environment and providing guidance on how customer requested security policies can be implemented.
  • The candidate should have an understanding of Managed Trusted Internet Protocol Service (MTIPS) and Trusted Internet Connections (TIC 3.0) program requirements or experience with managing enterprise security gateways.
  • The candidate should have a strong understanding of network and security protocols and concepts include IP routing, BGP, VLAN, authentication, access control, audit, configuration management, patch management, vulnerability management and asset management. The individual should have a strong background working with IPSec, SSL, PKI, key management, Physical Security, Network Security, Correlation Tools, Vulnerability Scanning Tools and Information Assurance.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to pass a Public Trust Security Clearance.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems
  • Three or more years of experience with security solutions from Fortinet.
  • Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification and relevant Cisco, Fortinet, FireEye, A10, Palo Alto, Gigamon, Tripwire or other certifications.
  • Extensive experience in fault isolation, repair and resolution, and documenting root cause analysis (RCA) for reported trouble tickets
  • Knowledge of public and private cloud, virtualization, orchestration, and managed services
  • Experience supporting end users to facilitate new builds, moves/adds/changes, user account administration, and enhancements to user experience
  • Experience in next-generation technologies including: Zero Trust, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Software Defined Networking (SDN), Multicloud, and/or Multi-access Edge Compute (MEC), particularly in a Managed Services (MSP) or Telecommunications/Service Provider setting
  • The candidate must be self-motivated, have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
